West Virginia is looking at potentially legalizing online gambling for those within its borders.

According to the Charleston Daily Mail, the state's lottery director told members of the Lottery Commission this week that officials met with casino firms in the state last month to discuss potentially having intrastate online gambling sometime in the future.

Online lotto tickets, as well as other casino style games, could be in the pipeline.

Another meeting to discuss the issue is set for late October, the report said.

"We're still exploring (online gaming) because we feel that's the way the industry's moving, so we want to plan for it," state lottery director John Musgrave said after Tuesday's meeting. "We have not yet made any decision for how we're going to implement it, but we are looking at it, studying it and seeing how our casinos in our jurisdiction can move in that direction."

Just Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware have state-sanctioned casino gambling sites.

Next year could see the state of California, the most populous state in the nation, license and regulate online poker. Pennsylvania could also be in the mix.
