There are more than 1 million apps available for download from Apple's App Store and a similar number of Android apps available on Google Play.

Editor's note: There are more than 1 million apps available for download from Apple's App Store and a similar number of Android apps available on Google Play. Staff writer Brian Nordli weighs in on one of the applications he deems worthy of being the Sun's App of the Week.

Phone App: Vegas Sports

Where you can find it: Apple's App Store

Cost: Free

What is it: The playoffs are here for professional basketball and hockey, meaning gambling opportunities abound.

Vegas Sports is here to help the avid gambler keep track of it all. The app operates like a gambler's to-do list, keeping track of the bets users place. Once the game's outcome has been determined, it calculates the gambler's winnings (or losses). With each bet, the app will also show the win percentage so a player can see just how good he or she is at sports betting.

Vegas Sports explains that its app is designed to take care of organization so that users can focus on game research.

For locals interested in handling all their gambling activities on the phone, Vegas Sports would pair well with apps such as Station Casinos' Sports Connection, South Point's Nevada Sports Book app, and William Hill's sports book app.

With NBA, NHL and MLB games and MMA fights occurring at the same time, sometimes a little organization is needed.
