PSG vs Liverpool
Parc des Princes, Paris, France
11-28-2018 - 3:00 pm ET - Univision

The rematch of an epic 3-2 match day one event takes place in Frances capital city. With PSG and Liverpool squaring off in a must win scenario, we should be treated to world class football at it's very best.

PSG start the match day with a ton of pressure on their backs. After retaining some of the top players in the world, the Parisians have been unable to get over the European hump, making Wednesday's contest a massive opportunity to keep their championship dreams alive.

Thomas Tuchel is the latest manager to carry the burden of obtaining a UEFA title. The German head-man has his side flying domestically, but the former Dortmund man has failed to create any separation in Group B, causing for concern among the PSG faithful.

Tuchel had been concerned over the status of his two star front-men Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, but news has broken of the forward pairing being healthy enough to make the starting eleven, giving PSG plenty of confidence their star-studded team can avoid a first round disaster and see their way through into the final sixteen.

The Paris side are certainly full of talent, and have players that are more than capable of carrying the host to victory, regardless of who gets the call. Edinson Cavani has been one of the clubs stand out performers. The Uruguayan striker has been a steady force since joining the squad, compiling gaudy numbers as the teams main tally's man, his finishing skills are second to none, with 16 goals in all competitions his work speaks for itself.

PSG's midfield will certainly be asked to help pull their own end of the bargain. Often accused of being the weak-link of this world-class side, Marco Verratti, Thomas Muenier and Juan Bernat must answer the call by helping contain a lethal Liverpool attack, while setting their own treats into motion, as the Parisians must keep pace with a desperate Liverpool side who will be determined to score goals and escape Paris with all three points.

The Paris side will feel confident in goal, with Italian keeper Gianluigi Buffon able to participate in this colossal re-match. Buffon was a noticeable miss while at Anfield, as the Parisian's conceded 3 goals, which led to their ultimate demise.

Liverpool make the trip to France off one of their worst defeats in recent times when the Reds were defeated by a scrappy Red Star Belgade side, who completely shut the English giants down in a convincing manner.

Jurgen Klopp
must now get a positive response out of the 2017-2018 Champions League runner-up. The German manager has a great feel for his team and seems to pull the right strings when needed the most.

Klopp also has the luxury of fully fit squad. There was a minor scare with Sadio Mane who contracted a illness, but the Reds winger seems to have recovered in time to take his placing in the starting eleven.

The remainder of the Liverpool front-line should be hungry to redeem themselves after the poorest of performances while in Serbia.  Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino have failed to score in any of the Reds' European away fixtures, while the team as a whole has only managed to score 6 total goals in their last six matches on the road.

The visitors did bust out over the weekend, hanging 3 second half goals on a stubborn Watford side, giving them momentum as they land in Paris.

There will be hard decisions to make on the Liverpool midfield, with Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum, Fabinho and even Xherdan Shaqiri all in consideration to make the final eleven. Klopp must choose the correct combination to avoid being second guessed over his team selection.

The guests have also become a much more balanced squad than in years past, placing a added emphasis on the defensive side of the pitch. The acquisition of Brazilian GK - Alisson helped solidify one of the Reds' glaring weaknesses, and allows this Reds side to compete with any team on the European platform.

PSG vs Liverpool - Match Prediction

The top match on Wednesday's card has no shortage of star power, along with two German managers who have similar philosophies, we should see similar styles of play as this match plays out in France's capital city.

Liverpool are full throttle for the majority of each 90 minute shift, playing out of a 4-3-3 formation they harass their opponents with a smothering press, looking to win possession and set their overwhelming attack into motion. The Liverpool front-line players are excellent finishers when in the open field, using through balls and the counter attack to their advantage. Expect Klopp' men to run at the Parisian's on every given opportunity.

PSG will mimic many of Liverpool's characteristics, attempting to win the ball and set their pacey trigger-men into motion. Neymar, Mbappe and Cavani and are handful for any back-line to contain. It will be interesting to see how their stamina holds up in such a fast paced environment, after recently spending time on the sidelines.

I anticipate a full blown sprint when these two square-off for the second time in group play. With the first meeting producing 5 goals, I see that trend continuing with each side combining for 29 shots created on goal per match. Expect to see fireworks as these two European giants leave it all on the pitch for European glory.
