PartyPoker details stance over third-party software

PartyPoker, the online poker brand operated by bwin.party, has announced that it is to take a number of steps to stop customers from using certain third-party software to gain an advantage over other players.

In an initiative titled 'Poker for the People', the operator will roll out a number of changes across its service during the next few weeks.

This will include players being able to view the last 12 months of their own hand histories, but they will no longer be able to download histories or save them to a local device.

Players that wish to wait for a cash game will join a room-wide waiting list and be randomly invited when a seat matching their preference becomes available.

In addition, players joining a cash game will see the names of opponents once, when their first hand is dealt.

In a blog post, Golan Shaked, director (games labels) at bwin.party, said that the changes will help protect players and allow the company to offer a fair service.

"As part of our Poker for the People campaign, the PartyPoker team is committed to providing all poker players, regardless of experience or skill levels, with trusted poker products that are fair, ethical and fun," Shaked said.

"We will continue working with the wider poker community on developing a mutually beneficial, trusting relationship."
