The New York State Gaming Commission has appointed attorney Dennis Glazer and Kevin Law, president and chief executive officer of the Long Island Association, to the New York Gaming Facility Location Board.

The two new appointments will round off the five-member body responsible for evaluating casino applications, and will decide which companies are eligible to apply for commercial gaming licences in the US state.

Glazer, a retired partner at international law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell, advised a range of public corporations, privately held companies and financial institutions in all matters of significant business issues and disputes during his legal career.

Mark Gearan, chairman of the New York State Gaming Commission, said: "Dennis has had an accomplished career and evidences his commitment to public service by taking on this important role.

"His legal expertise and impressive leadership in varied sectors combine to make him a valuable asset to the board, and I thank him for volunteering his time and talent."

Law was appointed president and chief executive officer of the Long Island Association in September 2010 and focuses on the economic development and creating a better business climate on Long Island in New York.

"Throughout his career, Kevin has repeatedly answered the call to public service in New York State," Gearan said.

"His commitment to and knowledge of economic development is tailor-made for the Gaming Facility Location Board, and I thank him for taking on this important task."
