A Nevada bill that would allow more businesses to place bets at race and sports books is moving forward.

The Senate passed SB443 on Thursday in an 11-10 vote, with Democrats opposed. It now heads to the Assembly.

Existing law limits sports betting to individuals and partnerships, but the bill would expand the types of business entities that can place wagers in Nevada.

Sports book operators say the measures would make it easy for investors to put their money behind skilled bettors and share in their winnings.

Proponents say it will help Nevada continue its dominance in the gambling industry and increase economic activity in the state.
