NFL futures odds to win both the AFC and NFC Championship are updated, making it a good time to pick a few winners before the NFL regular season gets underway in a few weeks.

The trick to successfully wagering on NFL futures unless you have a crystal ball is to know where and how to look for the value in the numbers. VietBet has recently updated its futures odds to win both the AFC and NFC Championship, making it a good time to pick a few winners before the NFL regular season gets underway in a few weeks.

The first thing that I am going to do is throw out the favorites in each conference. The Denver Broncos have been opened as +225 favorites to repeat as champions in the AFC and the defending Super Champion Seattle Seahawks are +310 favorites to win the NFC Championship.

These are still two very good teams that are more than capable of winning it all this year, but I am going with the historical trends that suggest neither team will get back to the Super Bowl this year. You have to go back all the way to Super Bowl XXVIII in 1994 to find the last rematch in the NFL title game. The last time a team won back-to-back titles was New England in Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005.

The Patriots are +330 second favorites to win the AFC Championship this season. There is some solid value in those odds when you consider that this team has won 12 or more games the last four seasons and it has played in (and lost) the last two AFC Championships. Without a strong up-and-coming contender to chase them down, I am going with Bill Belichick and Co. as my pick to win the AFC this time around.

Turning to the NFC, this race is a bit tougher to predict. San Francisco is a +400 second favorite to win the conference after appearing in the NFC title game the last three seasons with a record of 1-2. The one problem I have with the 49ers is the high level of competition they will have to face just to win their division. This in turn could cost them home field throughout the playoffs.

Green Bay is a +660 third-favorite to win the NFC on VietBet's NFL futures board and a solid pick coming out of the NFC North. The Packers are another one of those perennial favorites with five-straight trips to the playoffs including a Super Bowl victory in 2010. As long as quarterback Aaron Rodgers stays healthy, this team is going to win the majority of its games. I really like Green Bay's chances to secure home field advantage in the playoffs which should seal its spot in Super Bowl XLIX.
