Spain La Liga - Match Day 35

15813 Villarreal  vs. 15814 Celta Vigo

Estadio de la Cerámica , Villarreal, Spain

4-28-2018 - 2:45 pm ET

The La Liga schedule wraps up on day two of Match Day 35 with a captivating fixture. Celta Vigo will make the trip across the country, were they visit Mediterranean side Villarreal at the famed Estadio de la Cerámica

Celta Vigo have played inspired football as of late, after a slow start to the campaign. The port side have reeled of 10 points over last eight weeks, to help distance themselves from the bottom half of the table.

Celta currently sit 10th in the La Liga Santander table, with a overall record of 12-9-13 and 45 points through the first 34 weeks of competition.

Juan Carlos Unzué has had an adjustment period during his first season with the club, but as the campaign has progressed, the former Barcelona assistant has found a consistent balance within his tactical philosophies.

The Célticos have incorporated a more traditional 4-4-2 formation under Unzué, depending on two designated strikers at the top of the line, the Sky Blues have had no issues finding the back of the net under the new managers regime .

"Celestes" will make the trip missing their true leader on the squad. Iago Aspas picked up a muscular injury against the Blaugrana, the graceful danger man will be a huge miss with his 21 Goals scored in all competitions.

Maxi Gómez will bare much of the goal scoring responsibilities with his strike partner out for this match, the Uruguayan has been a revelation since placing the sky blue uniform on his back.  Gómez has exploded onto the La Liga scene with 15 Goals scored in domestic play, he is an absolute beast in the box with an above average Aerial game, to add to his ever rising credentials.

The visitors will also lean on the contributions of Pione Sisto and Daniel Wass to help pick up the work load. The creative Midfielder and pesky Defender seem to always find themselves in the right spots to be effective on the pitch, they will need to be at their best to help lead the Célticos too a positive result against the Yellow Submarines.

Celta Vigo have been an efficient side in finding the back of net during their travels, scoring an average of 1.4 Goals per match, in their last 17 La Liga away fixtures.

The Sky Blues defense has been a issue away from home, conceding an average of 1.5 Goals per match, in their last 17 La Liga away fixtures.

Villarreal are in need of a positive result as the match day begins. The Yellow Submarine have been steady this campaign, and are close to solidifying their spot in next seasons Europa League action.

The Yellow Submarine are currently holders of the coveted 6th position in the league, posting a record of 15-6-12 and 51 points to date, the hosts sit five points clear from closing in on the 5th spot in the table.

Javier Calleja is currently in charge of this Villarreal side, the former "B" team manager was named the head man in September, after Fran Escribá was relieved of his duties due to a slow start to the season.

Calleja has preferred a 4-2-3-1 formation during his time in charge, electing to use a dedicated number nine at the top of the line. The Spaniards side is electric in counter attacking situations, while often employing a heavy dose of short passes and connecting through balls to their advantage, the home team also possess a bevy of skillful individuals who can create their own shots on goal.

Carlos Bacca looks to be the prime candidate in the lone striker role on Match Day 35. The Colombian is a true weapon in the open field on counter attacking situations, using his lethal finishing skills to complete the final product. With 12 Goals scored in all competitions, he is a top candidate to hit the back of the net at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

Denis Cheryshev and Dani Raba will provide much of the support to Bacca from their Midfield roles, the partnership are also highly effective on the Defensive side of the pitch, setting up many of the Counter attacking scenarios with their aggressive style of play.

Expect this duo to set many of the Yellow Submarines fast breaking situations into motion, as Calleja depends on these versatile contributors to spear head his game plan into motion.

Villarreal have been tremendous on their own pitch, scoring an average of 1.8 Goals per match, in their last 17 La Liga home fixtures.

The Yellow Submarine defense has been tested while on their own patch, conceding an average of 1.2 Goals per match, in their last 17 La Liga home fixtures.

Prediction:

This has been a classic match up each La Liga season, with the home sides generally enjoying the mass amount of success.

Celta Vigo make the trip in poor form away from home, failing to record a victory in 5 of the last 6 road fixtures, compounded by having their own issues at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

Villarreal will feel confident with the Célticos coming to town, having defeated the visitors in their last 3 matches in all competitions, while also keeping Celta off the score board in the last 4 meetings during that same span of play.

Both sides are similar in that they enjoy getting out on the counter attack, but Celta are missing the main component to their attack in Iago Aspas. The Spanish International is a huge part of what the Eastern side likes to do, while also drawing a huge amount of attention from opposing defenders, with Aspas out of the starting eleven Villarreal will be able to key in on Maxi Gómez more than normal.

Expect the home side to keep their dominance of the visitors in tact, taking advantage of Celta's poor defensive form away from home, while limiting their offensive opportunities with a focused defensive effort.

Villarreal are prime to get out to quick start in this match, while looking to score a minimum of 2 Goals, as they look to make a final surge to lock up yet another spot in the Europa League proceedings.
