The Nevada Wolf Pack are seeking bowl eligibility, and they can get it if they defeat the Colorado State Rams on Saturday in Reno.

The Nevada Wolf Pack registered their best win of the season a couple of weeks ago, and they have visions of a bowl game, for which they need one more win to be eligible. They'll try to get there on Saturday night when they play host to the Colorado State Rams at Mackay Stadium in Reno. Game time is 10:30 PM ET on ESPNU, and while BetAnySports customers are watching it live, they can place wagers in real-time through the advanced technology presented with Live Betting Ultra.

The Pack has been profitable of late, covering four of the last five games, and there is a genuine opportunity to reach eight wins, as San Jose State and UNLV, who won't see the post-season, are next after this. Both of these teams are coming off a bye week, and undoubtedly some of Colorado State's thoughts are on having to win out to become bowl-eligible, although the next opponent for them is nationally-ranked Utah State. The Rams are 3-6, both straight-up and against the spread, while Nevada is 5-4 SU and ATS.

The major move made by CSU coach Mike Bobo, a former Georgia quarterback, was to change signal-callers, benching KJ Carta-Samuels and inserting Collin Hill, who has been through a lot in his collegiate career, including two knee surgeries. Hill threw for 333 yards in his first start against Wyoming, but that was not enough to prevent the Rams from going down to a 34-21 defeat. Nevada pulled off a 28-24 upset of San Diego State last time out, and they should have an easier time moving the ball on the ground here.

In the college football betting odds that have been posted on this game by the folks at BetAnySports, the Wolf Pack are the favorites:

Nevada Wolf Pack -14
Colorado State Rams +14

Over 61.5 points -110
Under 61.5 points -110

Tua Taua only gained seven yards on the ground against SDSU, but he will likely find some more daylight against a Colorado State defense that is surrendering almost 5.2 yards per rushing attempt. The fact is, there are very few defenses in the country that are less efficient than theirs, against both the run and the pass. Nevada has the other components to a well-rounded offense, including Ty Gangi, who is fourth in the Mountain West Conference in passing yards, and his very capable wide receiver duo - McLane Mannix and Kaleb Fossum. The Wolf Pack are in the top 30 as far as the "explosiveness" metric is concerned, and they do a very good job of protecting Gangi, with a sack rate of just 3.3% on passing downs.

There is no doubting the ability of Colorado State to move the ball, whether Hill or Carta-Samuels is throwing the ball. Preston Williams is a dangerous wide receiver, but the offense isn't necessarily all that explosive; and they have often had to convert third downs, because only 64% of their first downs have come on either first or second down.

And when you talk about third downs, that is one area in which the Nevada defense has excelled. In fact, they've allowed just a 32.6% conversion rate, which is 22nd in the nation. One reason for that is the penetration the defensive line is able to get, as they are ninth in the country in the "Tackles for Loss" category. The Rams may get their yardage, but they've had to travel 16.5 yards per point, which puts them 112th in that statistic. And Colorado State Rams has been no bargain for anybody either, having covered just three of its last 16 games. So we'll lean toward the home favorite in this one.
