The Florida State Seminoles try to bounce back from a loss to North Carolina as they tackle the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as they get together in Tallahassee on Wednesday night.

No one in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball program necessarily wants to remember what happened the last time they went into Tallahassee to play the Florida State Seminoles. Suffice it to say it was not a result they particularly enjoyed, but they are hoping to fare much better, as they get ready for this 7 PM ET start on Wednesday night at the Donald L. Tucker Center. FSU basketball oddsFSU is an excellent home team, covering eight of their last ten, and it should be noted that they have beaten both Duke and in-state rival Florida in Tallahassee. The 'Noles have also scored a victory over Virginia on the road, and that is significant, since they will be facing another deliberate squad with the Irish, who once again do a great job of taking care of the ball under Mike Brey. You always like to look for great fundamentals, and Notre Dame's offense is third best in the nation in turnover percentage, coughing it up on only 13.9% of all possessions. And there is no better free throw shooting team in the country than the Irish, who are a dead-eye 82.8% from the line.

These are the top two teams in the current ACC standings, although we are not altogether sure what that means at this point in the season. Notre Dame is 16-2 straight-up, with their only defeats coming at the hands of top-ranked Villanova and Purdue, and they are 7-5 against the basketball pointspread. Florida State is 16-2 as well, with an 11-5 ATS mark, and they may be smarting from Saturday's 96-83 defeat against North Carolina.

In the college basketball odds posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, FSU is the favorite at home:

Florida State Seminoles -6
Notre Dame Fighting Irish +6

Over 155 points -110
Under 155 points -110

There is a genuine size difference between these squads. Notre Dame customarily starts no one taller than 6-8, and their most effective inside operator is Bonzie Colson, who is a muscular 6-5 forward, averaging 15.8 points and 10.9 rebounds. FSU has big guards, along with forward Jonathan Isaac at 6-10, along with 7-1 center Michael Ojo. And coming off the bench is the leading shot-blocker, Chad native Christ Koumadje, a 7-4 import plays a little under eleven minutes per game. Coach Leonard Hamilton could uses as many as ten players on any given night, and they all defend. They also play at a fast pace, ranking 30th in the nation in Adjusted Tempo. Leading scorer Dwayne Bacon has been in double figures for 27 consecutive games.

Notre Dame basketball previewBetAnySports patrons may have seen Florida State fall at the hands of the Tar Heels this past weekend. North Carolina overcame poor shooting to register 21 offensive rebounds, and they held a 56-34 edge on the boards, which had to be a huge disappointment. That broke FSU's 12-game winning streak, and maybe it illustrates the difference as to where FSU is in relation to the upper-echelon programs, even though the 'Noles are tenth in the AP poll and 12th with the coaches. By the way, the Irish are 15th in both major polls.
