Germany Bundesliga Match Day 19

The final day of round 19 heads to Bavarian country as the six-time defending champs get set for battle. The gauntlet was laid down Saturday once Borussia Dortmund annihilated Hannover by an impressive 5-1 score-line. Now, with a full nine-point deficit in the German top flight standings, Bayern Munich cannot afford to slip up in their pursuit of lifting silverware once again.

Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany

The Allianz Arena will be rocking once their beloved "FCB" take to the pitch. The hosts last played in front of their loyal supporters at the beginning of December, making for a rampant setting as the opening whistle arrives.

Bayern Munich found their groove after a forgettable first half of the campaign. The Bavarians enter the contest on a six match winning streak in league play and have the ability to close the gap on Dortmund to 6 points once again.

Niko Kovač has been under the hot seat for much of his time in charge after moving from Frankfurt in the off-season. The Croatian manager seems to have found stability within his normal rotation and style of play. Now with half a season to catch the Black and Yellows, Kovač must push all the right buttons for Bayern to keep their monopoly on the league in tact.

Bayern's World Class Depth

The Bavarians are loaded with talent at all positions, even with Arjen Robben, Tolisso, Franck Ribéry, and Serge Gnabry all currently on the sidelines.

Robert Lewandowski will be fully fit to lead the home sides front-line. The Polish center-forward has been on another tear while with the German giants, scoring 27 total goals in all competitions, including finding the back of the net 8 times over his last 8 matches.

Veteran midfielder Thomas Müller seems set to also take his place in the starting eleven. The World Cup winner has found consistent playing time an issue under the new regime, but placed strategically behind Lewandowski in the Bavarians 4-2-3-1 formation, he should provide plenty of class as the defending champs move forward in attack.

James Rodríguez and Kingsley Coman are most likely to round out the remaining front-line positions. With each spending a bulk of the campaign on the injury list, it will be interesting to see how they hold up in starting roles.

Match Prop
Bayern Munich - To Win Both Halves - YES  -135 / 1.74

Bayern Munich is truly in an unfamiliar position, currently 3rd in the Bundesliga standings with an overall record of 12-3-3, there should be a true urgency to continue to close the ground on their old rivals and eventually place themselves in a spot to overcome their existing obstacle.

Stuttgart currently finds themselves on the outside looking in at survival for next season in the Bundesliga. Die Roten continue to slip fast in the standings and a trip to the home of Bayern Munich will not help their overall cause.

Markus Weinzierl has his work cut out as the second half of the season gets back into full swing. The German manager was brought in after Tayfun Korkut met his fate with the club, but unfortunately, he has not done much better going 3-0-8 while giving up a goal differential of -17 while in charge.

Stuttgart's Lethargic Attack

Die Roten have found placing balls in the back of the net a true test on a week to week basis. The visitors have scored a mere 14 goals in 18 domestic outings, while only lighting up the scoreboard 6 times in 9 away fixtures. With an average of 0.8 per match, it is easy to see why this proud club is struggling to keep pace with the rest of the top flight pack.

Mario Gomez will draw the dedicated number-nine duties while at the Allianz Arena on Sunday. The seasoned tally's man has carried a heavy load in front of goal, scoring a total of 5 times, he is most dangerous in aerial situations, as he truly depends on precise service into the box to be at his most effective.

Nicolás González must step-up and find creative ways to provide Gomez with the ball in threatening positions. González has an electric first touch and the ability to break down defenders with his skillful dribbling abilities, the young Argentine must provide a touch of class if the lower level side hopes to stay competitive for much of their time in Munich.

The visitors must also concentrate on the back-end with Bayern certain to stay on the front foot for a majority of this match-up. Steven Zuber and the clubs record signing Ozan Kobak should help provide some real stability while on the defensive side of the pitch, as they will be placed in vulnerable positions for much of the day and will be responsible for helping keep the FCB off the score-line.

Stuttgart have no real room for error, currently 3 points ahead of the bottom two teams in the standings, with the possibility of relegation looming in their future they must start to stack positive results as each match day arrives.

Bayern Munich vs Stuttgart - Match Prediction

Bayern Munich has enjoyed facing Stuttgart over the years with the Bavarians owning a record of 17-0-1 in their last eighteen meetings alone. Bayern seems ready to keep that one-sided trend intact as Die Roten make their annual visit to the Allianz, the German champs have traditionally been a bad match-up for their guests and this season is shaping up for more of the same.

The hosts are certain to push forward for large stretches of their time on the pitch, using through balls to spring the likes of Lewandowski into full motion on a repeated basis. Set-Pieces and direct free kicks have also been a true weapon for Kovač's men, they should hold a decided advantage once placed in these specific situations, with goals likely to come from these plans of attack.

Team Prop
Bayern Munich - Team Total Over 3  -140 / 1.71 - Goals

Stuttgart must stay organized and compact during their travels. The visitors will find having a consistent attack a challenge, being patient and waiting for their chances to strike will be crucial to their overall success.

Markus Weinzierl will be happy if his side can keep this match manageable, understanding if they can keep Bayern off the score-sheet for as long as possible his unit will grow in confidence as the fixture plays out.

Despite all of Stuttgart's effort's, I still expect a large output from this mighty Bavarian unit as they treat their loyal supporters to another convincing victory in this one-sided German rivalry.
