Betson, AMOA-NY set for legal online gaming campaign

The Amusement and Music Owners Association of New York (AMOY-NY) and amusement equipment supplier Betson Enterprises are to launch a campaign in favour of legalising online gaming in bars and clubs across New York.

The Amusement and Music Owners Association of New York (AMOY-NY) and amusement equipment supplier Betson Enterprises are to launch a campaign in favour of legalising online gaming in bars and clubs across New York.

According to the Vending Times, AMOY-NY operators would become licensed providers of online gaming services, which would be open to customers that visit the facilities.

Ken Goldberg, president of AMOY-NY, said if the motion was to be approved by regulators in the state, then it would open up a new course of revenue for both operators as well as Betson.

"This is important for our operators to remain competitive and embrace technology," he said.

"Today, customers can legally participate in gaming right from their cell phones, iPads and other electronic devices.

"Our challenge is to stay relevant and continue to demonstrate to our customers that we offer value and attractive entertainment options in our locations."

Goldberg noted that government-run enterprises have "failed miserably" with efforts to introduce services such as off-track betting and that experienced operators are more qualified to handle such ventures.

"This should be a healthy business where there is an income opportunity for many, job creation and a reasonable revenue projection for government," Goldberg said.
