Golf Betting: Five Best Prop Wagers for the Masters

An in-depth look at this year's Masters with betting tips and picks for player props.

Prop bets for the 88th Masters

It’s the first major of the 2024 golf season, meaning it’s the 88th edition of The Masters. Augusta National plays host once again to the best players in the world, all in quest of that green jacket.

There will be some great betting options accompanying the event this Thursday-thru-Sunday (Apr. 11th-14th), starting with trying to find the winner. So, after scoping out the props, here are five of the best ones ahead of the Masters . . .

McIlroy Ends Drought

As was mentioned in previous stories leading to the Masters, we’ve been endorsing Rory McIlroy to finally win the Masters. Understanding it’s been a decade since he won his last major, and his play this season has been iffy, he’s completing the career grand slam at some point.

Prop bets for the MastersClose but no cigar (or jacket) a few times (a final-round 80 entering with a three-shot lead in 2011), he needs to start well at Augusta. Only one player (Tiger Woods [twice]) has won the event after being outside the top 10 after the opening round.

McIroy is admittedly somewhat of a sentimental selection as well, but we’re intrigued by his 10-1 (+1000) price to win, according to Masters golf odds. He’s co-second choice (with Jon Rahm).

It’s not easy betting on just one golfer to win in any tourney, but taking McIlroy is the way to go,

Woods Not Cut

Though he’s a 100-1 (+10000) afterthought to win, 48-year-old Tiger Woods (with five Masters) won’t go away quietly. That’s why we’re predicting that in his 26th Masters, he’s on the right side of Friday’s cut line. He’s not missed the cut in his last two dozen appearances at Augusta.

Accepting minus-money (-120) is not great on this wager. Woods’ two opening rounds should keep him around to play the last couple. Whether his continued health issues allow him to complete 72 holes is another story.

Somewhere around No. 950 in the world golf rankings, Woods’ early play is going be interesting,

Scheffler in Mix

Scottie Scheffler, best golfer in the world, is the huge betting favorite to his second Masters, priced at 7-2 (+350). There isn’t a ton of value on that particular wager, so we’re buying ourselves some cushion.

Scheffler finishing in the top 10 is at -210, meaning you’re laying about 2-1. However, if Scheffler doesn’t take home a jacket, he will definitely be in the hunt. Take the buffer with this wager.

Who’s Low Amateur?

An underappreciated aspect of the Masters is seeing some of the top amateur golfers in the world. There is always a race to be low amateur, and a number of ways to bet on that.

With five non-pros in the field at Augusta, they will all be "dressed to impress."

Odds are extremely tight. South African Christo Lamprecht, standing at 6-foot-8, is the 17-4 (+240) favorite to end as the amateur with the lowest score. There is a value with Aussie Jasper Stubbs (9-2, [+450]).

Best Asian Golfer

Golf is an international sport, great players representing just about every corner of the world.

Augusta’s five Asian golfers are led by Hideki Matsuyama. He was the first Japanese player to win a major (Masters in 2021), and he’s the 5-4 (+125) choice to have the lowest score among his "regionmates" in this event. However, we’re taking South Korean Sungjae Im. PGA Rookie of the Year a few seasons ago, he’s a 19-4 (+475) proposition on this board.

There are other wagers available at Augusta, as per Masters special golf odds.

The other 2024 majors are the PGA Championship (May 16th-19th, Louisville, KY), U.S. Open (June 13th-16th, Pinehurst, NC) and British Open (July 18th-21st, Royal Troon, Scotland).
