Preview and predictions for the FedEx St. Jude Championship
The FedEx St. Jude Championship begins this Thursday. It will once again serve as the opening round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, with a loaded array of the best golfers on tour.
It's been a long road getting to this point. Now, it’s all about surviving and advancing. There is eliminations at the end of each event, leaving the cream of the crop by the end of the month.
Living to play another week is the goal, and not to mention trying to win this tourney outright. Odds are available before the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis.
Here is a look at those odds and our choice to win.
Atop the Board
If you’re betting on the FedEx St. Jude Championship, start at the top. Though Will Zalatoris is the defending champion of this event, he isn’t going to be in the mix (injured back).
Even if Zalatoris was healthy, he wouldn’t be among the choices. Three golfers have stood out this season. They’re the choices here, according to FedEx St. Jude Championship odds.
Scottie Scheffler +750
Rory McIlroy +800
Jon Rahm +900
Though not prevailing when it came to the majors in 2023, they were always in the hunt. As the playoffs are about to unfold, you can’t ignore the trio, despite their flaws.
Scheffler is as consistent as anyone on tour, but hasn’t always put four great rounds together when it mattered. McIlroy is in a major drought that’s reached nine years. Rahm fell apart in early rounds at some of the biggest events this season.
Those shortcomings aside, it’s tough to omit Scheffler, McIlroy, and/or Rahm when wagering.
Field is Loaded
There is going to be plenty of excitement and drama in Memphis, with the leaderboard loaded as the players eye this tourney and beyond.
There will be a ton of value if you are looking to bet on an “underdog,” as the unexpected has happened more than once this season. Here are some golfers worthy of consideration…

Scheffler Finally Prevails
It’s been too long since Scottie Scheffler has won a tournament on the PGA Tour. He is due, or overdue. Scheffler just hasn’t been able to cash in with a victory over the last few months.
It’s not going to be easy. Expect both Rahm and McIlroy to be factors as well, but it’s Scheffler in Tennessee.
Take Scottie Scheffler at +750 in the FedEx St. Jude Championship, beginning the playoffs.
If the concept of wagering on team golf is appealing, America is odds-on to whip the Europeans in Italy, as per Ryder Cup odds.
