Will Cillian Murphy don a bow tie - or any tie at all - when he strolls down the red carpet on the way to a likely Oscar win?

A lot was made of Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy's satin bow tie which he wore to the Screen Actors Guild Awards (which he won). It is said that Dr. Robert Oppenheimer himself was a fan of ties.

And so we have this proposition BetOnline has sent our way regarding what Murphy's garb will be on Oscar night, which will almost certainly going to be a big one for him.

Here it is:

Cillian Murphy to wear tie/bow tie on red carpet

Yes -1000
No +550

Murphy, who was in several of Christopher Nolan's previous films -- including Dunkirk, Inception and the Dark Knight Knight trilogy, is one of the Oscar nominees who is known largely for a performance in a television, having been a star of Peaky Blinders, which aired on BBC overseas and streamed on Netflix in the United States (and we suppose accessible around the world).

It's never easy to play a real-life figure, and especially one who has been portrayed in film before. Off the top of my head, I can think of at least a couple of capable actors who have played Oppenheimer - Sam Waterston, Dwight Schultz (you may know him from "The A Team") and Daniel London, from a syndicated TV series called "Manhattan," although the character was not front and center as a lead. But Murphy's performance is the most complete of the lot.

As you can see here, the likelihood that Murphy will miss out on his Oscar win is remote:

Oscars -- Best Actor

Cillian Murphy, Oppenheimer -800
Paul Giamatti, The Holdovers +310
Bradley Cooper, Maestro +1600
Colman Domingo, Rustin +3300
Jeffrey Wright, American Fiction +3300

You can argue that Paul Giamatti, son of former baseball commissioner Bart Giamatti, has done plenty of Oscar-level work in the past, including films like "American Splendor," "Sideways" and "Barney's Version." However, he's only been nominated for an Oscar once before, for the Jim Braddock biopic "Cinderella Man."

He picked up some momentum along the way with a Golden Globe Award for this role. But that was for best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, while Murphy swept up honors in the Drama category.

Giamatti is one of two Best Actor nominees who are playing fictional characters. The other is Jeffrey Wright, who is long overdue for some recognition. Wright is a Tony Award winner for "Angels in America" om Broadway, and he burst into film with a sizzling portrayal of artist Jean-Michel Basquiat in the movie of the same name. He's been in a load of motion pictures since. Go look at the resume. He's the guy I wish would win. In "American Fiction" he plays a writer who inadvertently writes a highly successful book that is taken seriously despite being written as a satire.

Bradley Cooper is the one actor in this category who directed himself. And while some may have called it self-indulgent, it's nonetheless an admirable effort. As you probably know, Cooper also directed "A Star is Born," in which he also starred, and got himself three Oscar nods (for Picture - as a producer, Actor and Adapted Screenplay), not to mention a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Lady Gaga. In all, Cooper has received twelve Academy Award nominations. But we don't think it's likely he'll pick up his first win on Sunday night.

Maybe it's not such a big value, but we'll go YES on the prop. Murphy will want to put his best foot forward, wouldn't he?
