What Happened to Samantha? Online Gambling Site Taking Bets on 'Sex and the City' Revival

Since Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis announced that they were returning for HBO Max's 'And Just Like That ...,' there has been speculation over the absence of fan-favorite character played by Kim Cattrall.

After Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis announced Jan. 10 that they were getting the Sex and the City gang together for an HBO Max revival, And Just Like That …, Twitter went wild with speculation over how the new series would explain the absence of fan-favorite character Samantha. Kim Cattrall is not a part of the limited series thanks to a longtime feud with Parker.

Her exit from the franchise raises the question of how Samantha’s absence from the series will be explained. Online sportsbook Bovada is weighing in on potential plot points by allowing gamblers to hedge bets on Samantha’s whereabouts. Bets ranked in order include: she passed away (+130); moved out of New York (+250); not mentioned at all (+450); still living in New York (+450); and confined to a prison or institution (+750). Death is the top bet thus far.

A Bovada spokesperson tells The Hollywood Reporter that the wager is the second-most-popular bet involving a fiction TV show in company history, trailing only the wagering on who would claim the Iron Throne in the Game of Thrones finale. The company plans to leave the prop available for betting until the show begins filming in the spring, and it could stay active up until the as-yet-unannounced premiere date should no spoilers break before then.

As of now, the only statements that have surfaced regarding Cattrall’s absence came from Parker on Instagram where she responded to a follower, saying, “Samantha isn’t part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do.”
