Week 7 Pick in the Jazz Survivor Contest

The upsets of the 49ers and Eagles last week were devastating to players who had held those teams. NFL season is in full swing, and with Week 6 on the horizon, it's time for NFL Survivor pool participants to make their picks. As the pools start to dwindle due to upsets, making the right choice is critical. We have used up the Ravens, Cowboys, Chiefs, Vikings and Lions so far and sit at 5-0 with our NFL Survivor Picks in the Jazz Sports contest. This week, the Los Angeles Rams stand out as a promising option for Survivor players as we try to continue to advance.

The Top Contenders

Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks (-7.5)

Once again it looks like we are taking a divisional opponent to beat the Arizona Cardinals. The Seattle Seahawks are one of the biggest favorites on the board in Week 7 and considering the 12th man that is ever-present at Lumen field in Seattle, the 7.5 point spread is 100% valid. The Cardinals had that one big win over the Cowboys, but have lost by 19, 14 and 17 since that Week 3 victory. Last week was Geno  Smith's worst game of the season where he threw two picks, yet still had 326 through the air. they gave the Eagles a tough game last week after beating the Colts on the road and losing by just 3 on the road in Cincinnati. The 3-2 record for the Seahawks seems a bit deceiving at this point in the season.

The Cardinals' defense has struggled since that big win, yielding 31.6 ppg and 386 yards per game during their last three losses. This is a great spot for Smith to rebound and exploit their deficiencies and secure a victory. If Smith can avoid throwing INTs and instead finds D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, who have combined for 45 catches on the season, the Seahawks should be able to right a wrong from last week and find the end zone against Arizona.

Defensively, the Seahawks may not be the Legion of Doom in year's past, but they have faced a good offenses and have the potential to disrupt the Cardinals' offense. Joshua Dobbs, the Cardinals' quarterback, has come back to Earth and without RB James Conner, there is no threat of play action and the offensive struggles are real.

Buffalo Bills (-8.5) at New England Patriots

Again this week a safe pick for your NFL Week 7 Survivor Pool is the Buffalo Bills. The Buffalo Bills are 8.5 point favorites ion the road vs a struggling Patriots team. If your Survivor pool is down to the last few participants, using Buffalo might be home run. However, if you still have a significant number of entrants in your pool, it's best to save them for later in the season. After all the Bills still have the Jets and the best week to use Buffalo may be in Week 9, when they host the Broncos on Monday Night Football.

The Bills are 3rd in the league in scoring, even after last weeks awful 14 point performance and Josh Allen has a PFF rating of 88.6 and has completed an amazing 71.7% of his passes. The Bills are coming off a ugly win and will look to get back on track at New England. The Patriots can't score, and the Bills will look to right last week's wrongs.

Patriots QB Mac Jones has played poorly enough that there is talk of backup quarterback Malik Cunningham getting a shot, should Jones continue to struggle. New England dropped to 1-5 (SU and ATS) on the season with their loss to the Raiders. Uggh.

Making the Decision

Taking the Seahawks as our Survivor pick in Week 7 may be a bit surprising to many, but this is the best opportunity to use Seattle for the rest of the year.. The team's offensive firepower, with Smith looking to rebound and his talented receiving options, gives them a significant edge against the struggling Cardinals' defense. Furthermore, the struggles Arizona faces on offense won't get solved vs. the 12th man in Seattle. 

Survivor pools are all about making calculated choices, and the Seahawks provide an opportunity to gain an advantage while saving other top teams for future weeks. While the risk may be slightly higher due to the divisional matchup, the potential reward makes the Seattle Seahawks our Survivor pick for Week 7.
