Republican National Convention Drawing More Watch And Wager Action

Following the Trump-Biden Presidential debate last month which saw Donald Trump run over a weakened President Joe Biden, shots continue to be fired, literally, in the race to the White House. The bickering, bashing and badmouthing is part of the bullsh*t surrounding this presidential election, but the buildup and betting continues. 

Trump is up to a -300 favorite to become the next U.S. President over current President and Commander in Chief Joe Biden (+250), according to odds at leading online sportsbook BetOnline. Trump was -175 before the Assassination attempt, -250 on July 13 and now up again as more money continues to be bet on Trump.

"Following the disturbing event that happened Saturday evening, we immediately suspended betting odds for all political markets," BetOnline.ag political oddsmaker Paul Krishnamurty said. "Everyone could anticipate the public reaction, so we adjusted the odds accordingly and moved Trump from (-200) to -250 for the presidency. Since then, we’ve seen nothing but Trump money come in."

According to ElectionBettingOdds.com, which tracks betting activity and markets from leading markets and sites, Donald Trump is up to a 67.5% chance to be the next U.S. President with Joe Biden (18.9%) and Kamala Harris (7.3%) way behind and five other Democrats making up the balance near 6%.

Donald Trump is scheduled to speak publicly at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Thursday, July 18. This will be his first address since an attempted assassination on Saturday in Pennsylvania. On Monday, Trump named Senator JD Vance (R-Ohio) as his vice presidential running mate for the 2024 election. 

Many are expecting a different approach to Trump's address, and the former President has basically said as much in a couple of interviews since the shooting.
