If you've got some faith in the Montreal Canadiens, you can make a bit of money wagering on some of the props that have been posted at BetOnline.

A look at the vast array of props available for the Stanley Cup

If you get bored at betting only on money lines, puck lines and totals, you can avail yourself of some Stanley Cup props. That's what you can find at BetOnline, where they always get creative with what they have to offer.

Here's a sampling of what they've got, with our comments:

Will Canadiens give up a power play goal in Game 1?
Yes +275
No -450

This is one of those props that truly examines "strength vs. strength." The Tampa Bay power play has been powerful indeed. And they have taken it up a notch in the postseason.

During the regular schedule the Bolts were ranked ninth in the NHL in power play potency. But they have connected on 37.7% of their power play opportunities since the playoffs began. That is the best percentage in 20 years for a team that has played this many playoff games.

On the other side we have the Canadiens, who were just 23rd in the league last season at killing the power play, but have done that at a record level during their playoff run. The last time Montreal gave up a power play goal was in Game 4 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. In the process of winning eleven of their last 13 games, the Habs have succeeded in killing every power play. That is a streak of 30 straight.

Stanley Cup betting tips propsWe have to honor that for at least one game and go with the "no" here.

What will happen first in Stanley Cup Finals?
Canadiens yield power play goal -550
Canadiens score shorthanded goal +325

Montreal has scored a couple of shorthanded goals, if that supplies you with some information. But we would lean toward the -550 on this prop. Tampa Bay has allowed three shorthanded goals all season.

Total fights during Stanley Cup Finals
Over .5 (1/2) -500
Under .5 (1/2) +300

Oh come on, what's a hockey game without a fight? That's what casual fans, possibly watching the game for the first time all season, might be saying to themselves. These are two teams who were pretty aggressive in the corners in the playoffs. And part of Tampa Bay's game plan is undeniably to create some chaos in front of Carey Price. So they'll mix it up pretty good at some point.

Team to score most goals in series
Tampa Bay -350
Montreal   +275

If you can agree that Montreal has a chance to win this series, you'd have to agree that they have a chance to win this prop, although we should tell you that during the playoffs, the Lightning have averaged 3.22 goals per game, compared with 2.53 for the Canadiens. That has produced a +21 goal differential for Tampa Bay and a +6 for Montreal.

Series Handicap
Lightning -1½ Games -160
Canadiens +1½ Games +130

The feeling here is that the Canadiens can take three games in the series. They have demonstrated an ability to win games on the road, as they have done against all three playoff opponents - Toronto, Winnipeg and Vegas. That kind of performance would pay off at +130 odds.

Most Points in Series
Nikita Kucherov -260
Tyler Toffoli      +200

Nobody on the Montreal roster is among the top scorers in the playoffs. Kucherov did not score a goal in the series against the Islanders, but he had a bunch of assists and has proven to be masterful in terms of setting his teammates up.

Most Points in Series
Brayden Point -165
Nick Suzuki    +135

Everyone agrees that Suzuki is going to move toward becoming a big star, but Point leads all goal scorers in the postseason - both on power play goals and even strength goals. This is an adequate price.

Highest save percentage in series
Andrei Vasilevskiy -120
Carey Price          -110

Wow - we get a feeling they're both going to be outstanding. And they are so close in their numbers - Price has a 2.02 goals-against and .934 save percentage, while Vasilevskiy has a 1.99 and .936, respectively.

Vasilevskiy has faced a lot of shots - more than any other playoff goalie. But Price fetches the better, uh, price.
