The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers are out to make a statement - don't count them out just yet - as they clash in Game 1 of their playoff series on Tuesday.

Preview and prediction for Warriors vs Kings

Despite losing the first two games of their series against the Sacramento Kings, followers of the Golden State Warriors felt that experience would count for a great deal when all was said and done. And it did. BetOnline patrons saw some elaborate punctuation too, as Steph Curry scored 50 points in Game 7 as the Warriors won by twenty points.

Lakers NBA Playoffs free pickThat was a big result, as it came on the road after the Kings won by 17 at the Chase Center in Game 6. And it brought back a lot of memories. Don't lose sight of the fact that the Warriors are the defending champions, and with the elimination of the Milwaukee Bucks, as well as Memphis and Sacramento, who were higher seeds in the West, this becomes a lot more wide open.

The Lakers intend to be heard from, as they had an easier time with the Grizzlies, as LeBron James made up for what he called a "s**t" performance in Game 5 with 22 points in Game 6. The Lakers blew out Memphis (and Dillon Brooks, a major LeBron antagonist) by 40 points in the clincher, and that was the widest margin the Grizzlies have ever lost a playoff game by.

In some ways, this could be considered a last stand for both teams, as they have accomplished veterans who are facing the twilight of their careers, and this opening contest begins at 10 PM ET in San Francisco.br />
As far as this NBA playoff preview, here are the odds for Game 1 of this Western Conference playoff series, as they are posted by the folks at BetOnline:

Golden State Warriors -4.5
Los Angeles Lakers +4.5

Over 228 Points -110
Under 228 Points -110

Between Brooks and Sacramento's Malik Monk, who accused the Warriors of being "old," there are non-believers who figure that the stars you will see on the floor on Tuesday have seen their best day.

Warriors Lakers picksBut they keep coming back, as if to continue making statements. Curry was not happy with anything that went on in Game 6, and he addressed the team in what was described as very powerful. And he went out and set a record for most points in a Game 7. Now we wonder if this is going to be

Klay Thompson's turn. Thompson misfired with 4-for-19 from beyond the three-point arc the other night, and we know that he is fully capable of going off on someone.

Count on a lot of minutes from Kevon Looney. The UCLA product, who was taken with the last pick of the first round in 2015, has stepped up his board game, reaching 20 rebounds or more in three of his last five games. To give you some perspective, he got to 20 just once during the regular season. The Dubs will need him in order to do battle against Anthony Davis.

D'Angelo Russell, one of three #1 overall picks in the Laker lineup, took charge in Game 6, burning Memphis for 31 points. He'll be extended on the defensive end, and the Lakers will likely be reaching into its bench, but is there a lot of depth at the guard spot beyond Dennis Schroder? Austin Reaves, a second-year man out of Oklahoma, has been a pleasant surprise for the Lakers as a starter, but with his relative lack of experience hurt him against the Splash Brothers?

LeBron, if you recall, played in the Finals against the Warriors four straight seasons when he was at Cleveland. And if you want to get sarcastic about it, you could say he was turned back three of those four times. For Golden State's sake, let's hope Draymond Green can maintain control of his temper. We're moving with the Warriors in Game 1.
