Draymond Green has been suspended for Thursday night's Game 3, as the Golden State Warriors are down 2-0 to the Sacramento Kings.

As if things weren't bad enough for the Golden State Warriors after going down two games to nothing in their Western Conference seris against the Sacramento Kings, they will no have to go into Game 3 without their best defender.

BetOnline patrons may have seen the ugly Game 2 incident where Draymond Green, prone to misbehavior, got tangled up with Sacramento center Domantas Sabonis, who was on the floor, and gave Sabonis a little stomp to the chest area before scooting away. It was a silly thing, although far from a joke, as Sabonis is listed as questionable with an injury.

Sabonis was actually assessed a technical foul on the play, but the biger punishment ultimately landed in Green's lap. He was given a Flagrant 2 violation and of course tossed from the game. And on Tuesday the NBA's director of basketball operations, Joe Dumars, who's see some dirty play in his time as a former member of championship teams in Detroit, slapped Green with a one-game suspension, which means he will not suit up for Thursday's action.

In the NBA playoff odds that have been posted on Game 3 at the Chase Center in San Francisco, the Warriors are laying points:

Golden State Warriors -6
Sacramento Kings +6

Over 240.5 Points -110
Under 240.5 Points -110

You have to admit it's a little strange that Dumars took some of Green's past actions into account. These, we imagined, were antics that he was either not punished for or not punished enough.

In a court of law, maybe those things would not be admissible. Here they are, apparently.

We understand the concept of being in the "heat of the moment." But there is no scenario; no spin, by which to deem his activity acceptable.

Green had been suspended previously in Game 5 of an NBA Finals series, and that contributed to a Golden State loss in that game and in the series.

So what the guy's doing - not just the incident itself but the way he over-acted in egging the crowd on afterward - is rather selfish, especially as now his team finds itself in very real danger of going into an 0-3 hole and killing its chances of repeating as world champions.

Green has four rings already, and GM Bob Myers and coach Steve Kerr were quick to point out the likelihood that none of those titles would have been won without Green, who rose from being a second-round draft pick to the point where he is a four-time NBA All-Star and seven-time member of the All-Defensive Team.

But like Dennis Rodman, another second-round pick and mad defender who won some NBA titles, Green seems a lot more concerned with being a "showtime" character, as if this is all part of building a "brand."

And one thing that didn't help the Warriors get off to a good start was hitting teammate Jordan Poole in the face at a practice way back in October.

The way Myers and Kerr talk, it's as if they have no degree of control on the guy's behavior, and they just have to sit back and weather the storm and hope that he doesn't hurt the team too much when unnecessary.

Losing Green has obvious effects. What makes him unique, in this day and age when so many teams execute pick-and-roll offenses in order to create mismatches, is that he is the kind of guy who can defend against all five positions. He rebounds, blocks shots and also hands out quite a few assists.

And yes, Kerr and Myers are telling you the truth when they say that they wouldn't have won those championships without him.

They probably can't win too many critical games in the post-season without him either. if De'Aaron Fox was the kind of player who wilted in the crucial moments, we might feel one way about it. But as you probably saw, he recently won the Clutch Player of the Year award. The Kings have what it takes to keep this one close, if they don't pull off the straight-up win.
