Manchester City vs. Chelsea
Etihad Stadium, Manchester, England
11-23-2019 - 12:30 pm ET - 5:30 pm GMT

The marquee matchup on the card moves to Manchester, where a struggling Man City side welcomes a red hot Chelsea squad to the Etihad on Saturday evening.

Manchester City continues to slip in the EPL standings after high expectations entering the new campaign. The hosts currently sit fourth in the standings, nine points back of Liverpool, who defeated them 3-1 prior to the international break.

Manchester City's Must-Win Situation

Pep Guardiola understands his side needs to collect all three points, and with no room for error at this point in the season, the Spaniard will hold nothing back to collect a victory.

Man City has found playing this Chelsea side challenging at times, despite defeating the Blues 6-0 at home last season, the only hold a slim 5-2-3 record over their last ten meetings.

The home side's depth will be a key component of this fixture. Man City will be without the services of Bernardo Silva due to suspension, while Ederson is questionable in goal, which could be a huge blow if Claudio Bravo is called upon again after allowing in three goals his last time out.

The remaining front-line will be at full strength for the defending champs. Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus are in contention for the number-nine role, while Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez will assume the winger positions, with this combination of players combining for 21 goals on the season.

Manchester City enters Saturday's fixture winning 23 of their last 26 home EPL matches. The Citizens are currently 4-1-1 at the Etihad on the new season, although they are 2-3-1 ATS, proving they struggle to win by large margins on their home ground.

Chelsea travels north full of confidence. The Blues are currently riding a six-match winning streak, while winning their last five matches away from home, making them true road warriors on the season.

The Londoners currently sit third in the Premier League standings with 26 points. Chelsea started the campaign on a rocky note, but have since found their stride and have high hopes of contending for a league title.

Lampard's Return Home

Frank Lampard returned home where he spent the majority of his glory years. The team's all-time leading goal scorer helped lead the Blues to a plethora of trophies on multiple fronts, and now the club icon hopes to capture more as the team's manager.

Lampard inherited a youthful side of talented players, including American Christian Pulisic who has forced his way into the starting eleven. Pulisic found his transition difficult moving from the Bundesliga, but after getting his opportunity at regular minutes, Pulisic rewarded Lampard with five goals and two assists in only six league appearances.

The USMNT member has picked up a knock while away on international duty, with a pesky hip injury hampering the rising star, Pulisic's status for Saturday's contest is still uncertain.

Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount have also been key components within's Chelsea's current run. The pair of English internationals have injected life into this once stagnant front-line, combining for 14 goals and three assists, this youthful combination is key pieces towards the Blue's future.

Chelsea understands they must match Man City with firepower on their home pitch. The Blues make the trip having scored two or more goals in their last five away fixtures, giving them plenty of confidence they can trade blows with the defending champs.

Manchester City vs. Chelsea - Match Prediction

The battle of the third and fourth place teams in the table should be a must-watch event. Each side is involved with Champions League action next week, but I anticipate each manager sending out strong lineups with this domestic contest their primary focus.

Manchester City is in dire straits to collect all three points. Pep Guardiola is the ultimate tactician, known for his ingenious gameplans, I expect the Spaniard to test Lampard in his first visit to the Etihad during his managerial career.

Chelsea expects to be under constant pressure from the opening whistle. The Blues must stay composed and not come undone last like the season. The visitor's youthful core will endure their greatest test to date, with the opportunity of making a large statement.

I anticipate an open match for much of the 90 minutes. Guardiola will force Lampard's men to play at their pace, using a series of calculated passes, placing the Citizen's skillful dangermen in the best positions to succeed.

Match Prop
Both Teams To Score & Over 2.5  -115 / 1.87 - Goals

Expect multiple goals from this big six affair. Both sides seem likely to hit the back of the net, with an abundance of tally's men on both sides of the ball, the offenses should steal the show during this EPL showcase.
