Borussia Monchengladbach is battling for a spot in the Champions League, and they go against Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga front-runner, on Saturday.

We're not sure if you're following some of the soccer action available at BetAnySports, but we certainly hope you are. And we can tell you that just as exciting - if not more exciting - than the movement that happens on the field is the stuff that transpires on the business side of things. This is truly one place where you can, and should, "follow the money."

Bayern Munich futbol betting tipsBayern Munich, which is coasting to an eighth consecutive Bundesliga championship, is a Rolls Royce in terms of franchise value. In fact, at $3 billion, it was the fourth most valuable soccer team in the world, according to the annual survey conducted by Forbes magazine, trailing only Real Madrid of La Liga ($4.24 billion), Barcelona, also of La Liga ($4 billion) and Manchester United ($3.8 billion). And on an overall basis, they are also the 17th most valuable sports franchise in the world.

There are no salary caps in world soccer; as a result the richest franchises have all the ability in the world to buy the best players. And transfer fees are out of this world. A few years ago, Neymar transferred from Barcelona to Paris St. Germain for 222 million Euros. Then they came right back the next year to acquire Kylian Mbappe from Monaco for 135 million.

Our point is that competitive balance isn't something that is necessarily achievable. So Bayern Munich and the teams with the most money tend to dominate (Manchester United this season being an exception in the Premier League).

With a 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt this week, Bayern won its way through to a German Cup final against Leverkusen on July 4. But most immediately on the agenda is a Saturday match with Borussia Monchengladbach, perhaps more commonly referred to as Gladbach, in which they are a solid favorite at home, according to the numbers that are posted at BetAnySports:

Money Line
Bayern Munich (Munchen)   -252
Borussia Monchengladbach +634
Draw                                     +431

Spread (Goals)
Bayern Munich (Munchen)   -1.5 (-101)
Borussia Monchengladbach +1.5 (-114)

Total Goals
Under 3.5 Goals -111
Over 3.5 Goals   -104

Bayern has the Bundesliga well in hand, and is a solid pick to win the German Cup, but what's been elusive for them is the Champions League title. They last won it in 2013, and only once since 2001. So naturally this is a priority, as many a head coach has been let go over failure at the European level.

And with the crazy circumstances surrounding the shutdown on the part of all leagues due to the coronavirus, Bayern thinks that being able to compete for a little bit longer (Bundesliga opened up before La Liga and the Premier League, and France's Ligue 1 canceled its season entirely). So they figure they might have a leg up when play resumes in August.

And they can use a little help to get where they want to go - the next step, so to speak. And that is why they are anxious to sign Leroy Sané, currently a member of the German national team, but more recently a rather tempestuous star for Manchester City, where he has scored 25 goals in 89 appearances.

What also sticks out are his heroics in the Champions League a year ago, most notably when he scored a goal with three assists in Man City's rout of Schalke. But he suffered a torn ACL in the Community Shield game against Liverpool, which has put him out of action since.

Now presumably ready to return, he is said to be, in the opinion of many observers, a good fit for Bayern moving forward in the European competition, because of his explosive instincts on offense. But there is some explosiveness away from the pitch too, which his critics believe would upset team chemistry.

But what matters more right now? That is the question Bayern's managers, not to mention coach Hansi Flick, who's led his team to a record of 17 wins, two losses and a draw, have to ask.

So what about the outlook for Saturday's game? Well, good teams seem to find a way to win games that might otherwise appear meaningless, and there is some payback for a previous loss to Gladbach, which is admittedly in the upper reaches of the Bundesliga, and battling for a possible Champions League spot, but with all that motivation should have managed better than a 1-0 defeat to Freiberg last time out. So I don't have any real problems laying a price with the favorite.
