Betfred Enters Pennsylvania with Wind Creek Bethlehem Sportsbook

Wind Creek Hospitality this week launched its first-ever retail sportsbook through a partnership with Betfred USA Sports, the US division of British bookmaker Betfred, that the casino operator signed early this year.

The Betfred Sports betting facility had a soft opening this past Wednesday at Wind Creek’s Wind Creek Bethlehem casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The sportsbook occupies the space of the former Buddy V’s Ristorante and features two state-of-the-art video walls, 31 TVs, three betting windows, and eight self-service betting kiosks. The space also has multiple viewing areas and a sports pub that serves food and beverages.

Wind Creek and Betfred will hold a grand opening ceremony to celebrate the new addition to Wind Creek Bethlehem’s offering. The event will take place on Saturday, November 21, and will be attended by invited guests.

The opening of the retail sportsbook marks the culmination of a sports betting deal between Wind Creek and Betfred that the two companies signed this past January. The launch of the brick-and-mortar facility will be followed by the rollout of a Betfred-powered online sportsbook in the coming weeks. The digital product will be available across Pennsylvania.

Betfred’s sportsbook at Wind Creek Bethlehem is the operator’s third retail facility in the US. It has previously opened sportsbooks at Grand Falls Casino & Gold Resort in Iowa and Saratoga Casino in Colorado as part of partnerships with the casinos’ owners.

Expansion in a “Massive Sports Betting Market”
Commenting on their expansion in Pennsylvania, Betfred USA Sports COO Bryan Bennett said that they are “extremely excited” about their partnership with Wind Creek and that they “couldn’t be happier with the launch of our third US-based sportsbook in one year.”

Mr. Bennett added that Pennsylvania is a “massive sports betting market” and that they are looking forward to helping Wind Creek Bethlehem become a “go-to destination for sports bettors.”

Wind Creek Hospitality President and CEO Jay Dorris said that opening a sports betting facility at their Pennsylvania property provides “yet another exciting gaming opportunity for our guests” and that their partnership with Betfred will allow them to bring a “first-class sports betting experience in a high energy environment to the property.”

Wind Creek secured the necessary regulatory approval to offer retail betting experience at its Bethlehem casino as well as a digital betting product this past June. The addition to the retail facility comes as part of the property’s ongoing expansion.

Wind Creek purchased its Bethlehem casino in 2019 and promised to invest $100 million into building a 270-room hotel that will be attached to the property’s existing 282-room hotel and another $250 million into building an indoor water park and entertainment complex.
