Starts: OVER 10.5 (-140)

Belichick and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels didn't sign Newton to be the backup. This is Newton's job to win and keep.

With an offseason that allowed him to get fully healthy, Newton will not see a repeat of last season when he missed 14 games due to injury. It was the only time in his nine-year career that Newton started fewer than 14 games.

Even though it's priced at -140, take the over as Newton is going to start the majority of Patriots' games this season.

Super Bowl LV Futures Betting Preview

Passing Yards: OVER 3250.5 (-125)

Cam Newton passing yards season prop betThrowing out last season, since he only played two games, Newton has only ever dipped below 3,250 passing yards once in his career. That was in 2014 when he played in just 14 games and finished with 3,127 yards passing.

In a New England offense that is well-designed, look for Newton to thrive in a ball-control, run-first type of offense. If you pay attention to football news, Newton will have plenty of opportunities on play action to generate big plays, a la Jared Goff in Los Angeles.

Sure, the Patriots will utilize more two-back and two or even three-tight end sets, but they will still throw the ball and throw it well. In 2018, Newton set a career-high in completion percentage with 67.5. If he comes close to that, he will easily top 3,250 passing yards in 2020.

Passing TDs: OVER 22 (-120)

Newton has actually only thrown more than 22 touchdown passes in three seasons. He tossed 35 in 2015 when he won the NFL MVP. He threw 24 in 2013 and 2018. For his career, Newton has 182 touchdown passes.

Again, tossing out last year, averaging the 182 touchdown passes over eight seasons yields an average of just over 23 per season. Newton may not have the weapons some other big-time National Football League quarterbacks have, but he will still throw for more than 22 touchdowns.

Rushing Yards: OVER 550.5 (-110)

The New England offense will change to suit Newton's skill set and one of the skills he does possess is the ability to run the football. Yes, Newton is 31 years old, but he is still an outstanding athlete.

The Patriots will not run him too much, but Newton's ability to scramble and make something out of nothing will help him go over the 550-yard mark for the sixth time in his career. If Newton plays a full 16-game schedule, it equates to just over 34 yards per game and will definitely be something to look at when deciding on your NFL picks.

If he only plays 14 games, it's still less than 40 yards a game to hit 550.

Rushing TDs: UNDER 5.5 (-115)

You figure Newton will have a few opportunities to score on quarterback sneaks. He's not likely to score on many big plays and he's more likely to run a zone read out of bounds than into the end zone.

Newton didn't run for a touchdown last year, obviously, but the previous three seasons his rushing touchdown totals were four, six, and five. In fact, he's only had double figure touchdowns twice. Newton had 14 in his rookie year and 10 in the MVP season of 2015. Scoring over 5.5 rushing touchdowns isn't going to happen in 2020 for Newton.
