The Betting Scene: Early Football Contests

The first installment of our new weekly series providing updates for the world of online sports betting. First up is a couple of contests, a domain name change and a surprising payout report.

NFL Contests, YouWager URL and a CRSportsBet payout

Each week during the football and basketball seasons we will be posting this new column on offshore sportsbooks and the sports betting scene. We'll look at hot topics, give some betting advice and notify players of the latest happenings online at sports betting shops worldwide.

The first week of the NFL preseason is also the beginning of online sportsbook shopping season. And by shopping we mean players shopping for the best deals, contests and offers while looking for a sports book that satisfies their betting patterns and pays timely. Early August is one of the best times of the entire year to find the top offers from the best place to bet sports online. For starters, a couple of the best contests are listed below. Check back every week for the latest, greatest offers and timely news on sportsbooks.

MyBookie NFL Super ContestThis year MyBookie.ag introduces their inaugural NFL Super Contest, based on the enormously popular Westgate Super Contest. A $150K prize pool will be split among the top 15 players, with a $100,000 going to the overall winner. Like the contests in Vegas, this one has an entry fee of $100 (not 10K!) and players must select five (5) teams per entry, per week. Check out the fine print for first-ever MyBookie SuperContest for all of the details and like the Westgate contest, you must be registered BEFORE the regular NFL season starts.

For the past six years BetMania has offered a Super Bowl Contest. This year they are super-sizing it with a grand prize of a Ford Mustang! Players get an entry for every $300 deposit and can use the entries to select random numbers. But, until August 25th, for every deposit of $300 or more, players will get Triple Entries! Send in $600 and get 6 entries! Each month there will be a drawing for the monthly prizes and the Mustang will be given away on Super Bowl Sunday! Prizes range from $500 free plays to giant flat screens to vacations. Get all the details at BetMania.ag.

YouWager Switches Domain Extension

One of the longest standing operations offshore, YouWager, has moved from their .eu website to a new .lv website extension. They can now be found at YouWager.lv

YouWager changes to dot lvApparently, in mid-July the European Commission issued an updated notice to stakeholders concerning the .eu domain names registered by UK residents. The worry is that new Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his appointment of advisor Dominic Cummings will force a "hard-Brexit". This may result in changes to the websites which end with a dot eu. If the UK does drop from the European Union, a holder of a domain name would no longer fulfill the general eligibility criteria for the the registry for .eu and the European Union would be entitled to revoke such a domain name on its own!

So, YouWager.eu, is now YouWager.lv. Same top-rated sportsbook, just a different location on the web. Most players will not notice the difference as right now the .eu domain will redirect users to the new website. But if the dot eu domain is pulled, players will need to go directly to YouWager.lv. It is a best practice in this type of situation to change any bookmarks or saved YouWager URLs to the new dot lv extension.

CRSB Player Finally Gets Paid

When we get a complaint in regarding CRSportsBet, the first thing we do is check the dollar amount of the complaint. If the figure owed is well into the thousands, we know that it is going to be a tough, long road for that player to get paid. But, we also know that if we continue to inquire and stay on top of the pending payouts, the player has at least a fighting chance of being paid.

"RR" contacted us back in early January about $3300 that was in his account at CRSportsBet. He had received $1100, but then the payments stopped. We contacted CRSB and got a stock response, a lie that he would be paid by the end of the week. For the next 6 months we continued to fight for RR and his $2200. Some 80+ emails later, we are happy to report that ownership at CRSportsBet finally made good on what they had told us, that RR would be "paid in full".

That's great news for RR, but we are still working on "BS", who has been waiting over 10 months to be paid in full. We'll report back in here if and when he finally gets all of his dough.

Check back every week for The Betting Scene as we will highlight new items of interest in the world of online sports betting.
