BETonSPORTS players continue to contact us regarding emails received from Vantis. Their sportsbetting, casino and poker operations shut down over a year ago, BETonSPORTS employed a ‘liquidator’ to close their business affairs nearly two months ago. This week Vantis finally began to contact players via email.
The email comes from Vantisplc.com and directs players to a website - http://betonsports.vantisplc.com. At this point you are given the option to login with the shiny, new creditor reference number from your email and your email address. Once signed in you can expect to see your name, address, BOS (or affiliate) account number and amount. You then must verify your balance. Once this is all completed you will still get the message:
“Please bear in mind that due to the volume of claims we have received we will not be in a position to report further to you until at least May 2008.”
We have had reports of players who had multiple accounts only getting emails for the lowest balance. We have have reports of players who had bonus money taken out of their balance. And, we have had many reports where player still have received no contact as of yet.
Unfortunately, we attempted to contact Vantis several times since we first heard of this on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, our emails have gone unanswered and our phone calls rejected. Today, we found out that the three leads on this project are all off on holiday until Jan 2, 2008.
There are many questions that we are seeking the answers to including, What about players who have multiple accounts? Should these players verify the balance on the one that comes without seeing the other balances? What about players with no email address? When will they be contacted?
So, as of this writing, some of you are feeling a bit better about getting your funds inn 2008, while most of us sit and wonder what is going to happen next. Still, some contact shows that Vantis is indeed looking to finalize all of this prior to the next BETonSPORTS court date in June……
We will contact Vantis again after the 2nd and report in this space. Please let us know of any questions you would like answered by responding to this BLOG entry below.

In the last hour, we were sent a copy of an email that looks like it came from Vantis, the company put in charge of liquidating the entire BETonSPORTS corporation.
This email provides players with a creditor reference number and a login to what appears to be a Vantis operated website. We urge bilked players to proceed with caution as the company has made no announcements of this method of contact/verification.
In addition, we had not seen any notice of this development and this email appears to have come out of the nowhere. We have seen only 1 email copy - not the hundreds we would have expected.
Thus, we have contacted Vantis to find out the validity of this claim email. With all of the phishing scams out there we want to verify that this a legitimate email from Vantis.
We will be in contact with Vantis shortly after they start their day in the British Isles. Please check back here at dawn’s early light or fill out our BETonSPORTS claim form to be notified immediately when updates on this case break!

It seems that the Saturday night PPV welterweight championship fight between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Ricky Hatton has been getting more press than any fight in recent memory. Neither fighter has lost in their professional career, Mayweather, 38-0, was installed as the favorite at Las Vegas sportsbooks at -270. However, Hatton, 43-0, has been taking a good deal of the money since the line opened and is currently headed toward a +150 price tag. This hype and betting action could be the product of the TV show 24/7 on HBO that chronicled the two fighters in the weeks leading up to this fight. This show was an eye opening look into what goes into these fights and honestly, was quite entertaining and certainly well done. Mayweather, who announced his retirement after his victory over Oscar De La Hoya in May, seems to enjoy the life as the ‘pound-for-pound’ best boxer in the world. A little too much….for me. Mayweather has all the cars and money and cockiness in the world and even has an entourage or ‘posse’. But at least this guy has backed it up time and again winning cash for bettors.
Still, Hatton looked to have a laser focus on the reality show. His work ethic was crazy and he spends most of his time gym time hitting Hard, Really Hard. Hatton is looking to win at whatever cost. One segment showed him getting hit over and over again with a medicine ball in the mid-section. Here is one thing that 24/7 revealed….
Mayweather would not let cameras into his sparring workouts….Hatton makes his gym accessible to the public every Tuesday while he is in training. In fact, there were so many people in Manchester at the gym on Hatton’s final workout day that he could hardly make his way to the ring.
This guy is not only fighting for the title, the cash, the fame…but also for a whole city. Hatton is a hero of sorts in the blue collar town in England. The last time he left to go to Vegas he said he would return victorious. He destroyed Louis Castillo in four rounds. Castillo had previously lost two close decisions to Mayweather….
The betting public seems to think that this is a fight that Hatton can win. Old ‘Money” Mayweather certainly is not getting a lot of love at the betting window or on the computer screen. Numbers have dropped like a stone for the favorite, with Mayweather now listed at -210 thoughout Vegas and offshore. Hatton is currently bringing a +175 price tag where many books opened the Brit at better than a 2-1 underdog. The ebb and flow of the betting line has seen prices from -270 for Mayweather and +210 for Hatton drop 60 cents to -210 for the favorite at Bookmaker and a best price (as of this writing) for Hutton at Pinnacle, +180. Most US facing off shore sportsbooks show this line at +170.
The real cash, especially offshore, is in the selected props and different decisions. I played them at Bookmaker where they have a fat line of +380 on Hatton by a KO, TKO or DQ. Yes, this is a bit of a stretch as Mayweather has never lost, let alone been KO’d, but does anyone really believe that if this goes the distance Hatton wins? So, I also took a backup play of Mayweather to win by decision at -105. Why pay 210, when there is no way that Ricky Hatton goes down and stays down? He will be yelling for Stella and telling trainer Billy Graham to cut him . . . looking for another shot at ‘Pretty Boy’.
Shop around and see where the most favorable prices can be found but if you were ready to ride the Hatton wagon to big profits, that ship has sailed. Still, any number over +155 or so is a great value for a fighter of Ricky Hatton’s caliber. Sure Mayweather has the belts and the fame, but does he have enough left to prove where he can reach deep down inside and gut out a win against his toughest opponent in years………bettors say NO!

In recent days, former BET on SPORTS players contacted us via every known communication method, sans smoke signals, to ask the question, “Has anyone been contacted yet?” After all – it has been over a month since Vantis was appointed as the liquidator for BETonSPORTS.
The answer is no – no one has been contacted. We corresponded with dozens of players this week that so far have heard nothing. We announced that a forensic accounting firm in England, Vantis plc, had been appointed to liquidate the beleaguered sportsooks’ assets and disperse funds to creditors, including players on October 25. We have been in contact with Vantis on a regular basis since that day. They had told us early on it would take several weeks to contact all players…..
We contacted Vantis this week and not only got an email response but also had an informative conversation with a lead member of the team working on returning creditors funds. We were told that this is an ongoing process and that Vantis is “still in the process of extracting customer records from the various BetonSports systems”. In addition, we were informed that they were still confirming the validity of much of the data and had several systems to go through. Apparently, this is the result of all of the different sportsbook, casino and poker brands, gaming licenses and office locations operated by BETonSPORTS. What we really wanted was dates that players could expect to hear contact from Vantis. Instead we got back a pretty standard sounding reply. “As soon as we are confident we have extracted all the necessary information we will notify customers accordingly.”
Finally, we asked specifically about the funds. We were told that there is still significant money that has not been repaid to the company and that Vantis is actively working to collect more funds. They are doing this simultaneously with working through the various data bases validating records. Vanits has told us and the public that they are working diligently to end this ordeal for everyone. The odd thing is that though Vantis claims to be an independent company, this is starting to sound very familiar to the BETonSPORTS company line that we have heard for so many months…..
