Special Report from Bestline Sports

Posted by Administrator on 30 Apr 2007 | Tagged as: OffShore Insiders

As many of you know, Bestlinesports.com suffered problems this past Friday the 27th of April that hindered our ability to operate. As a service to all clients, the following is a special report of what happened.

At around 10:15PM (ET) our base of operations in Panama City, Panama suffered a power outage as a result of difficult weather conditions. As it is, Panama is a tropical country going into its rainy season and the resulting weather caused a halt in operations of our headquarters.

The problem was significant, but within a couple of hours (around 1:30AM ET specifically) all of our systems were operational once more. During that time we were unable to take wagers online or over the phone.

The staff at Bestlinesports.com would like to extend an apology to you for any inconveniences our mishap might have caused. Rest assured that since then we have taken all necessary measures so that this problem does not happen again. We encourage all of our clients to call us or log on to BestlineSports.com and place your wagers with confidence, always making client satisfaction our top priority.

Sincerely,
Bestlinesports.com

US Rep. Frank Favors Regulation Not Prohibition

Posted by Administrator on 26 Apr 2007 | Tagged as: OffShore Insiders

Massachusetts representative Barney Frank may be the gamblers best friend right now, as he shocked the I-Gaming industry by not repealing the UIGEA, but instead introduced a the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act. His proposed legislation will not repeal the UIGEA or replace the Wire Act. Banks and credit card companies who still do business with non-licensed online gaming operators would still be in violation of the UIGEA.

The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) is given exclusive authority to issue and enforce licenses and regulations. Potential Internet gaming licensees would be subject to financial and corporate scrutiny. This includes criminal background checks of corporate officers during the application process. Operators would also be required to establish a corporate structure in the United States for both taxes and fees.

The bill requires licensed companies to adhere to federal and state income tax laws. It goes further saying that taxes would be collected from players “at the time of any payments of any proceeds of Internet gambling.”

In addition, companies must have appropriate safeguards in place for preventing underage gambling, fraud and money laundering before being issued a license. Licenses are renewable each year under the proposed legislation and are able to be revoked if the company fails to comply with any U.S. federal laws.

As always, keep your eyes here as more will certainly unfold on this legislation.

Great Website Feature

One of our biggest pet peeves is the times that games are listed on our favorite wagering sites. Some sporsbooks list the games in Pacific time, some Eastern and being in the Eastern Time Zone, it can get confusing. There is a solution:

OSGA Endorsed BetJamaica can display your account game times in either Eastern, Central, Mountain or Pacific. To get it changed customers can simply email support@betjm.com and the friendly CS people at BetJamaica will change it right away.

Sign the Petition

A ‘Concerned Citizen’ has started an online petition to be sent to Barney Frank. I have just read and signed the petition: “Repeal Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act”. Please take a moment to read about this important issue, and join me in signing the petition. It takes just 30 seconds, but can truly make a difference. The petition has a goal of 400,000 signatures - please sign here.

Bestline Gets Bigger

In a move to strengthen their market share, OSGA Endorsed Bestline Sports has acquired BetOnline.com.

Eddie Robbins, CEO of Bestline Sports, told us that he is very excited about the new URL. “We finally have a chance to brand our name and BetOnline is universal. The name applies to all forms of wagering including casino and poker.”

Eventually all players will be moved over to BetOnline.com. However, the CEO told us that the BetOnline website has only had a “facelift”. Once all of the new features are in place, BetOnline will be the flagship brand for the company.

Bestline Sports has been one of the most solid sportsbooks offshore for over ten years. The move to get a very recognizable and search-engine friendly URL can only help this outsanding outfit. Look for BetOnline.com to appear on the OSGA Endorsed and Certified Sportsbooks later this week.

Easter in Costa Rica

Posted by Administrator on 05 Apr 2007 | Tagged as: OffShore Insiders

The Easter holiday is huge in Costa Rica. Government offices and banks are closed. Many gaming houses have given a vast majority of thier staff some time off. In addition, we have had several calls today about BETonSPORTS.

Here is a note we received yesterday from BOS:
“Due to public holidays the Customer Service Dept will be closed April 5 thru April 9. We will reopen our customer service phone lines and answer emails that have come in during the holiday beginning on April 10. ”
