We have been running contests for our visitors for nearly 15 years and we keep getting requests for more, especially from our Members. This year we are using new software and though there have been some bugs and glitches, we have been able to give more to our visitors and Members.

At this time of year we have several contests going on and in 2013 we have offered more free football contests than ever. Unfortunately for more than 100 players, this is the last weekend for our first ever College Football Pick ‘em.

Each week players chose 10 out of 15 hand-picked college football games. Players chose ten games Against the Spread and assigned ‘confidence points’ to their selections. This contest challenged players to not just pick winners, but to grab the most points possible by assigning the highest point values to their favorite games. There were several weeks where the player who picked the most winners, did not have the most points. So far, contest sponsor SportsBettingOnline has given away over $3000 worth of free play betting money. They have done an excellent job crediting players, usually within a few hours. This past weekend we ran our first-ever Members-Only Thanksgiving Weekend Pick ‘Em. This contest was a tremendous success for our members who picked pro football games on Thanksgiving and Sunday and College Rivalry games on Friday and Saturday, 20 games in all. This contest paid the top 5 winners and had a very unique occurrence. The top prizes were cash prizes and top sportsbooks WagerWeb and GTBets sponsored the rest of the prizes. Unfortunately, for one of the winners, GTBets refused to let him play as he was from the Bayou state and GTBets doesn’t accept players from Louisiana. So WagerWeb stepped up to the plate and gave away an additional prize. And, GTBets paid the prize that was left on the table to the next finisher. Thus we had 6 winners and a special thanks to WagerWeb and GTBets

Our annual Pro football contest, the OSGA Progressive Pick ‘em, is chugging along. The progressive prize of $100 a week in cash that builds each week was hit by two players back in week 8. Each winner got a check for $400. The current progressive prize is again back up there again at $600. In addition, weekly winners are given a $100 free Play at elite-rated BetOnline. To date BetOnline has given away over $1200 to contest winners.

Finally, the OSGA Members-only squares contest is entering its 14th week. The contest is setup as a simple free squares game with a $25 VISA gift card going to the halftime score winner and a $50 one sent to the player who has the square that corresponds to the final score. Every week the board is filled with OSGA Members who get to pick 5 squares for the MNF game. Unfortunately for members, a few weeks have had blank squares as winners. But prizes are double for next week’s winners! Members can simply get the weekly contest password by logging into the Member Zone or can grab it out of the weekly Member newsletter.
