BetOnSports Pleads Guilty to Racketeering

BetOnSports plc pleaded guilty to federal racketeering charges, U.S. Attorney Catherine Hanaway said Thursday, and could now face $500,000 or more in fines.

United Kingdom-based BetOnSports plc, a publicly traded holding company that owned a number of Internet sports books and casinos, is the corporate parent of the companies whose gambling operations are described in the indictment.

As part of BetOnSports’ plea agreement Thursday, Hanaway agreed that as long as the company lives up to its obligations under the agreement, including supplying witnesses and evidence in the pending cases against co-defendants, no further criminal prosecution will be brought in the Eastern District of Missouri relative to its participation in the Kaplan Gambling Enterprise between July 2004 and the present.

The BETonSPORTS operation in Antigua has told us that this will not have a great impact on thier effort to pay back all US players who are currently in thier 10th month of waiting to be paid. The company that plead guilty today is BOS, plc in England, while player payouts are going to come from BOS (Antigua). However, we see this as a positive for players, as Catherine Hanaway agreed to the plea bargain, “as long as the company lives up to its obligations under the agreement”. BETonSPORTS was ordered by the court to repay all US players back in November.

Recent Payout Complaints Valid

As many of you are aware, there are many sportsbooks that are simply taking a long time to get money to their players. Add Oddsmaker.com to the list. We have received complaints of up to a month to get paid. We contacted Customer Service at the sportsbook and almost immediately, got an offer from them to help with player issues. However, subsequent correspondence has gone unanswered. We were also given a contact at the Oddmaker who also initially appeared to be helpful. Again, once the complaints started rolling in we were told that ‘he simply does not have time’ to help and wanted to ‘nip this in the bud before I start to get these every week’. We are unable to find anyone at this sportsbook that is willing to help out with player payout issues, or maybe they just do not know when some of these payouts will arrive for players.

So, unlike Sportsbook.com, BetUS and a slew of others where we are able to get assistance from management with the current payout situation offshore…..if you have a problem at Oddsmaker, you are on your own.

Scam Alert

PalaceBet.com was opened in April and already we are already getting bad reports. Alleged professional handicappers refer players to Palacebet. The player signs up at the site and sends his deposit to PalaceBet. The bettor is then promised a line of credit so he can bet larger sums on the handicapper’s picks. He is told he must cover a $4,000 transaction cost and must send an additioanl 4 dimes prior to a withdrawal.

We have had two reports of players asking for withdrawals and no money has arrived………

STAY AWAY.

Though information has been a bit sketchy, it appears that the CRIS family of websites is under attack. A reliable source told us that there is an outside attack currently being waged against the gaming operators’ Internet servers. We do know that they are working diligently to resolve the problems and are currently doing updates. This affects email as well.

Several gaming websites are affected. These include the following sites below. Still, phone lines are up so we have included phone numbers:

www.betcris.com - (866) 238-2747 or (800) 417-3786
www.bookmaker.com - (866) 962-6562
www.betmaker.com - (800) 644-6405
www.2betdsi.com - (800) 863-4156
www.americascardroom.com

They expect to have everything up and running in a matter of hours.

IGotGaming closes!

As reported back on April 2, I Got Gaming is in big trouble. It appears this week they have finally decided to close down and stiff the remaining 150 or so players. This book was at one time very aggressive in recruiting customers and as late as last summer had several thousand players. The phone lines no longer ring, the website domain has been transferred and messages to former employee cell phones go unanswered.

Bilked players are urged to contact us through our complaint form at http://www.osga.com/Complaint_form.htm. We have been working on a bailout offer this week and expect to have one or more reputable sportsbooks step up to the plate by early next week. Stay tuned as more information becomes available.
