The Houston Astros will be facing a raw rookie as they try to even up the World Series against the Atlanta Braves.

Without Charlie Morton, Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker has had to scramble around a little for pitching options. Ultimately he's going to appeal to the committee.

Up two games to one, the Braves, in a decision that was made on Saturday afternoon, have turned to someone in Game 4 who may be rather unknown to BetOnline patrons.

Dylan Lee is not only making his first major league start, he has only been in two big league games and didn't make his debut until October 1. So he is someone who is coming in with a bare minimum of experience.

On the other side is a guy who has all the experience in the world. Zack Greinke was not necessarily considered a primary pitching option for the Astros, and he was knocked out of Game 4 of the ALCS against Boston before the end of the second inning. But he did win eleven games for Houston, and he has 219 wins, two ERA titles and a Cy Young under his belt.

Greinke went more than five innings 16 times this season, and he would help the Astros immeasurably if he can give them some quality frames.

In the World Series betting odds posted at BetOnline on this game, it's pretty much an even proposition:

Houston Astros (Greinke-R) -105
Atlanta Braves (Lee - L) -105

Under 9 Runs -120
Over 9 Runs +100

The Astros were absolutely flummoxed by Braves pitcing in Game 3. Ian Anderson threw five hitless innings, and Atlanta allowed a total of two hits on the evening in the 2-0 victory. Braves catcher Travis d'Arnaud hit his second homer of the Series.

Atlanta used four relief pitchers after Anderson, and that takes on some importance, as we'll explain in a moment.

Greinke carried a 4.16 ERA this season, so clearly he is not someone in his prime. These days he is throwing it kind of slow, as he averages 88.5 MPH on his fastball. He'll throw a lot of changeups, and it should be noted that the Braves have hit changeups on an overall basis betterthan any team in the majors.

Lee came to the Braves in the final week of the season and got into two games for two total innings. He gave up two runs, including a homer. This season, pitching for the Braves' Triple-A affiliate at Gwinnett, he had a sizzling 1.54 ERA and 0.750 WHIP in 46-2/3 innings.

The plan, apparently, is for him to go an inning or so and then give way to the bullpen. And none of the relievers threw more than 17 pitches on Friday night. The better question may be how Greinke might fare against this Atlanta lineup, considering that his home run rate per nine innings was a rather bloated 1.6.

Listen - the Astros are a great team hitting changeups too, but they had no answers whatsoever for Anderson, who uses that as his "out" pitch. So we could be wrong, but we think the home team can get to Greinke.

We'll side with the Braves here.
