The Masters Top Golfers and Player Profiles
The Masters 2026 tournament is set to tee off April 6 with the top players expected to create more memorable moments in the first major of the year. I outline the favorites, key contenders and top players as part of my golf coverage at Off Shore Gaming Association, where I chip in Signature Events and Major Championship previews, picks and profiles.
The flowers are in full bloom and the stars are ready to shine at Augusta National, where the 7,565 yard, par 72 manicured masterpiece will challenge and test the players’ mettle to the maximum.
The 90th Masters Tournament has a limited field of 91 players with 66 of those currently playing on the PGA Tour. A total of 10 LIV golfers, 6 amateurs, 6 past senior champions, 2 DP Tour and 1 Japan Tour make up the rest with all but Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau having long odds to win. But fans and OSGA members following the Betting Scene can enter a free Masters props challenge contest at BetOnline and compete for $10,000 in cash prized.
The watch and wager action will be huge, and the favorites Rory McIlroy (2025) and Scottie Scheffler (2024, 2022) are the last two winners of The Masters and will be supported in outrights and top finishing position bets.
As I reference GolfStats and past performances of top players at The Masters, know that "course history' takes on an added proportion at Augusta National. According to advanced analytics site DataGolf, course history is the most predictive at Augusta National compared to any other course by a large margin. But current form and stronger strokes gained stats in recent play are always factored into the profiles and potential for more positive play and results. At The Masters and Augusta National since 2021, 72% of Approach shots are from 150+ yards. Augusta presents the most demanding Around the Green test for the players, beyond just lightning fast, undulating greens. A majority of recovery shots come from tight, uneven lies played into more severe slopes. Distance and spin control is more challenging with many chips and pitches played into the grain.
Two-time winner in 2026 Chris Gotterup will draw some interest as the Sony Open and Phoenix Open winner and a big hitter (320 yards) ranking top 5 on Tour in driving distance. So will FedExCup Standings leader Jacob Bridgeman, who ranks top 5 in SG: Approach and Ball Striking in 2026 and won The Genesis Invitational in February. Those two rising players are 2-of-22 first time starters in the 2026 Masters, and no first-timer has won The Masters and the green jacket since Fuzzy Zoeller in 1979. Close calls in their first Masters appearance include Ludvig Aberg (2nd) in 2024, Will Zalatoris (2nd) in 2021, Sunjae Im (T2) in 2020, Jason Day (T2) in 2011 and Jordan Spieth, who finished 2nd in 2014 and won The Masters in 2015. The late Ken Venturi finished 2nd at The Masters as an amateur in 1956, and had a 30+ year career as golf broadcaster.
Top Masters Trends for Winners
As you evaluate the players and profiles below, you'll notice a lot of power players. Big hitters have an advantage at Augusta, which says 7,565 yards on the scorecard, but plays closer to 7,900 yards factoring in the cross-cut mowed fairways, elevation changes and setup. The par 5's are key scoring holes, but holding steady on par 4's with longer, accurate drives in the fairway allows high-ball hitters and strong ball stikers with shorter irons another edge.
It's worth noting that 16 of the last 17 Masters winners ranked in the top 50 in driving distance for the year, and 16-of-16 were top 30 in Tee-to-Green. Last year's winner Rory McIlroy averages 315 yards off the tee, which is top 15 on the PGA Tour this year in
driving distance joining Gary Woodland, Aldrich Potgeiter, Chris Gotterup, Marco Penge, Rasmus Hojgaard, Jake Knapp and Min Woo Lee. Top players averaging 302-315 yards include Sam Burns, Ryan Fox, Nicolai Hojgaard, Adam Scott, Ludvig Aberg, Wyndham Clark, Brooks Koepka, Xander Schauffele, Scottie Scheffler, Maverick McNealy, Cameron Young, Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa, Daniel Berger, Jacob Bridgeman, Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Rose, Harris English, Robert MacIntyre.
PGA Tour average driving distance is 302 yards, and top 50 is 306 yards (Morikawa, Spieth). Of those players and some other notables, the highest-ranked on Tour this year in total driving (distance + accuracy) include Min Woo Lee, Morikawa, Young, Fitzpatrick and McIlroy all top 10 followed by Aberg, Berger, Knapp, Scheffler, Kitayama, Conners, Clark, Schaffele, Fleetwood, Bridgeman, Adam Scott, Griffin and MacIntyre all top 40.
Last year’s Masters played to a 72.81 average and ranked 7th-hardest on the PGA Tour among the 49 courses charted in 2025. The weather was dry but it was windy. The previous three years the Masters played to 73.91 average in 2024 as the 3rd-hardest course on the PGA Tour, the 6th-hardest in 2023 and 3rd-hardest again in 2022 averaging 73.95. Light winds are in the forecast for the 2026 Masters with better scoring and temps rising from mid-70's on Thursday to mid-80's on Sunday. The 72 hole winning score is over/under 275.5 (288 is even par).
PGA Tour data analyst Ron Klos @PGASplits101 notes the following trends for winners at #TheMasters. McIlroy fit all 19 trends in winning last year. Hitting 17 of the trends into the 2026 Masters are Aberg, Schauffele, Fleetwood, and 16 Scheffler, McIlroy, Rahm, DeChambeau,… pic.twitter.com/zCosxKqbBb

Hole-by-hole insight and average score with rank 2024-2025 Masters
Top Golfers And Odds
Leading favorites and contenders golf odds from BetOnline refresh periodically and are subject to change, including on props and live/in-game betting. Odds adjust during and following rounds. Masters scoring averages included for top players.
Hole 1: Tea Olive - Par 4, 445 yards (4.208 - Rank 7, 4.166 - Rank 6)
Scottie Scheffler (+575) - You can check out Scottie Scheffler and other top players profiles in my Masters coverage last year in Forbes. Scheffler gets top billing again as a 2-time Masters champion (2022, 2024) and 4th place last year. He's yet to finish outside the top 20 at Augusta, and is the only player in the field to finish top-25 in each of the last six years at The Masters. The 29-year-old 4-time major champ and 14-time PGA Tour winner gets no bets from me despite his proven Masters profile and having won The American Express in January followed by top 5 finishes in Phoenix and Pebble Beach. But he's cooled off with two finishes outside the top 20 entering the 2026 Masters, and has additional distractions having his second child arrive less than two weeks ago. Strokes Gained Total rank No. 2 this year, No. 3 Around the Green and No. 6 Tee-to-Green and No. 2 in Par 4 scoring. Augusta scoring average: 70.33 with only 2 rounds over par.
Hole 2: Pink Dogwood - Par 5, 585 yards (4.658 - Rank 17, 4.615 - Rank 18)
Rory McIlroy (+1400) - Last year's memorable and emotional playoff win at The Masters secured McIlroy's place in golf history having completed the career grand slam. The 36-year-old Irishman finished T2 at The Genesis Invitational Signature Event but WD from the Arnold Palmer Invitational and T46 at The Players Championship with current form lacking. Add in the media obligations, multiple documentaries, hosting the champions dinner and a lingering back injury and Rory's not my pick this year after I cashed in on his 2025 Masters win and matchups. Still, in 14 rounds this year with strokes gained data available, Rory ranks No. 1 in SG: Off-the-Tee and Tee-to-Green, No. 2 in Approach and No. 4 in SG: Total on Tour and top 10 in Par 4 scoring. Augusta scoring average: 71.45 across 17 Masters with 10 rounds over par since 2018 that includes a win, runner-up and two other top 5 finishes.
Hole 3: Flowering Peach - Par 4, 350 yards (3.933 - Rank 15, 3.909 - Rank 15)
Jon Rahm (+1100) - Now the second favorite with his strong recent play on LIV and proven Masters performances. The 31-year-old Spaniard won The Masters in 2023 and had four consecutive top 10's at Augusta starting in 2018. He's the only European player to win both the Masters and US Open, and now enters in top form having finished 2-2-1-5-2nd in his last five tournaments on LIV Golf having lost in a playoff in South Africa to Bryson DeChambeau at The Club at Steyn City playing on bermuda greens like Augusta National. Augusta scoring average: 71.00 with four rounds over par in his last three apperances.
Hole 4: Flowering Crab Apple - Par 3, 240 yards (3.265 - Rank 5, 3.209 - Rank 5)
Bryson DeChambeau (+1400) - Bryson is making his 10th Masters start and earned Low Amateur honors in his tournament debut in 2016. The 32-year-old failed to crack the top 20 in his next six Masters starts before a pair of top 6 finishes the last two years despite shooting 75 each year having opened with a 65 in 2024. He was the 36-hole leader at the 2024 Masters, and played in the final group with McIlroy last year before closing with a 75 when his iron play let him down. Along with suspect Around the Green play, I'm not interested in betting on Bryson despite DeChambeau winning back-to-back LIV Golf events in March. The 2-time U.S. Open winner joins Rahm on LIV Golf in top 5 driving distance averaging 313 yards. Augusta scoring average: 72.44 with 9 rounds over par since 2021.
Hole 5: Magnolia - Par 4, 495 yards (4.302 - Rank 3, 4.324 - Rank 1) historically toughest
Xander Schauffele (+1600) - The 2024 two-time major winner has an impressive profile at the Masters without winning. He's finished top 10 five times in eight starts including runner-up in 2019, T3 in 2021 and three top 10's the last three years. The 32-year-old battled through rib and injury issues last year, but has regained his grove this year with top 10 finishes at comp course Riviera at The Genesis Invitational and top 5's at The Players Championship and Valspar last month. His Around the Green game is lacking some outside the top 80 this year, but top 15 in SG: Tee-to-Green, Approach and Total, and top 10 in Ball Striking. Augusta scoring average: 71.30
Hole 6: Juniper - Par 3, 180 yards (3.097 - Rank 12, 3.020 - Rank 11)
Ludvig Aberg (+1800) - The sensational Swede is really rounding into top form having T3 last month at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and then led The Players Championship by 3-shots into the final round as our pre-tourney pick, and 2-shots into the back nine before falling apart to finish T5. He couldn't close again with a chance to win the Valero Texas Open last week and finished T5. In two Masters starts, the 26-year-old has finished 2nd and then last year was 10-under par and just 1-shot behind the leader at #17 on Sunday before faltering again losing 4-shots over the final two holes to finish T7. His distance combined with elite iron play and high ball flight into the greens makes him a solid fit at Augusta. Over the past two years, Åberg has gained an average of 1.77 strokes per round (min. 16 rounds) on long courses, against strong fields and under difficult scoring conditions to rank top 5 in this field behind Scheffler, DeChambeau, Schauffele and McIlroy and just ahead of Rahm and Fleetwood. Aberg's putting has been the weakest part of his game this year ranking No. 54 on Tour. But he's top 10 in Tee-to-Green and top 25 in Around the Green, Ball Striking, Off the Tee and Total. Augusta scoring average: 70.30
Hole 7: Pampas - Par 4, 450 yards (4.195 - Rank 9, 4.091 - Rank 10)
Tommy Fleetwood (+2250) - Last year's FedExCup champion is still shooting for his first major win and now ranked No. 4 in the world. He had three T3 or better finishes to close last year on the DP World Tour, and four top 10 finishes in five PGA Tour starts since February. Tommy Boy's putting has really held him back from winning this year ranking outside the top 120. But the 35-year-old ranks No. 2 Around the Green, No. 5 Tee to Green, No. 21 Ball Striking No. 14 SG: Total. Fleetwood's 1.33 strokes gained per round in Signature Events and Playoff events the last two years is No. 2 on Tour behind Scheffler. Fleetwood's best finishing score at The Masters is 278, or 6-under par in 2020 (T19). He's since finished T14 in 2022, T21 last year and T3 (-4) in 2024. Augusta scoring average: 72.00
Hole 8: Yellow Jasmine - Par 5, 570 yards (4.641 - Rank 18, 4.618 - Rank 17)
Hideki Matsuyama (+2600) - Few thought Matsuyama would win The Masters with his past putting problems, but he pulled off a Masters win in 2021 shooting 10-under par that included a 65 on Saturday. He's finished T14, T16 and T21 in 3-of-4 starts at Augusta since. The 34-year-old Japanese star has battle some back ailments in recent years, but he started strong in 2026 with two top 15's, a top 8 and runner-up finish in the Phoenix Open but has no top 20 in his last three starts but a top-5 Ball Striking week at the Valero Texas Open last week. His overall stats don't pop this year with his best being No. 15 in Around the Green and Approach, and top 20 Tee-to-Green and Total. Still, his odds have dropped from 40/1 in recent days, and last year Hideki ranked No. 2 in SG Approach per round on Tour, behind McIlroy. Augusta scoring average: 72.70.
Hole 9: Carolina Cherry - Par 4, 460 yards (4.03 - Rank 13, 3.956 - Rank 13)
Cameron Young (+2250) - The 2026 Players Championship winner has risen to No. 3 in the world rankings with 11 top 10's since missing the cut at The Masters last year. I bet him at 40/1 to win the 2026 Masters during his final round at The Players, and his odds have steadily dropped since to now nearly half those odds. The 28-year-old also finished T3 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and T7 at The Genesis with elite form and play since late February ahead of The Masters. Young has a pair of top 10 finishes at Augusta in 2023 and 2024 and his skills, driving and much improved putting set him up for success if he puts it together at Augusta. Cam Young is one of 10 players in this year's field that enters Masters week gaining at least 18 strokes Tee-to-Green in their last four starts, joining Rahm, Aberg, Morikawa, McIlroy, Fitzpatrick, Schaffele, DeChambeau, Fleetwood and Min Woo Lee. Since 14-of-the-last 14 Masters winners fit that T2G profile over their last four starts ahead of winning the Masters, you may want to consider Young on your short list of winners like I did at better odds. He ranks top 5 Off the Tee and top 10 Tee-to-Green, Ball Striking and Total this year. Augusta scoring average: 72.92.
Check back on Tuesday for additional players, profiles, odds, stats and information you can bet on.
Hole 10: Camellia — Par 4, 495 yards (4.248 - Rank 6, 4.162 - Rank 7)
Matt Fitzpatrick (+2250) - Just missed winning The Players Championship stealing the lead over Aberg on back nine Sunday before giving way to winner Cam Young on the 72nd hole. Fitzpatrick won the Valspar Championship the following week, and the 31-year-old US Open winner (2021) and British Masters champion (2015) is in top form other than putting ranking No. 2 in Tee-to-Green, No. 4 in Ball Striking, No. 2 Approach and No. 9 SG: Total. Since the 2025 PGA Championship, Fitzpatrick elevated his play with 2 wins and 11 top 10 finishes in 23 worldwide starts. Augusta scoring average: 72.36.
Hole 11: White Dogwood — Par 4, 520 yards (4.386 - Rank 1, 4.240 - Rank 3)
Collin Morikawa (+3500) - A definite threat if he's healthy and worth of play at these odds and top finishing position top 10/20 like a number of others. Morikawa's top form resulted in strong finishes his last three tournaments, winning at Pebble Beach and top 7 at The Genesis Invitational and Arnold Palmer Invitational. But the 29-year-old 2-time major winner withdrew early into The Players Championship with a back injury and hasn't played competitively since. Morikawa ranks No. 1 in Approach and Ball Striking this year, and No. 3 in Tee-to-Green and No. 8 SG: Total as his putting has ranked outside the top 100. But his accuracy from the tee has him top 5 in total driving. Morikawa has 5-straight top 20 finishes at The Masters since 2018 which includes a T10, two top 5's and T14 last year with a low round of 69 over his last three year's at Augusta National. Augusta scoring average: 71.33.
Hole 12: Golden Bell — Par 3, 155 yards (3.198 - Rank 8, 3.139 - Rank 8)
Adam Scott (+8500) is not only a big longshot as the 2013 Masters champion, but the 45-year-old Aussie is playing well and top 2 in par 3 scoring average and top 5 in par 5 scoring this year on Tour. Scott is still a big hitter off the tee ranking top 25 on Tour, but his iron play has been top tier this year ranking top 6 in Ball Striking and Approach and top 12 in Tee-to-Green. Scott's putting let him down when he missed the Masters cut last year, but he's playing better and some results have followed finishing 4th at The Genesis and T11 at Arnold Palmer Invitational. Augusta scoring average: 72.62.
Hole 13: Azalia — Par 5, 545 yards (4.758 - Rank 16, 4.828 - Rank 16 (2025)
Min Woo Lee (+3500) - WM Lee gets slotted at the No. 13 Azalia as a par 5 scoring leader on Tour joining Knapp, Scheffler, McIlroy, Morikawa and also Aberg, Gotterup and Fleetwood. The 27-year-old Australian leads the field in total driving while averaging plenty of length with 315 yard driving distance. He ranks top 5 in SG: Total this year, top 10 Off the Tee and top 20 in Ball Striking and Tee to Green with his Approach stats worst of his game ranking top 50. His best Masters finish is T14 on debut but still over par (+2), and T22 in 2024 but just one round under 70 in four Masters starts. Augusta scoring average: 73.29.
Hole 14: Chinese Fir — Par 4, 440 yards (4.171 - Rank 10, 3.993 - Rank 12)
Robert MacIntyre (+3500) - The Scot's odds would have been lower had he held up to win last week in Texas, but he faltered a bit and finished T2 after finishing top 5 at The Players Champioship. His putting is elite ranking No. 4 in Tour this year and top 10 in Off the Tee and Total, but outside the top 120 in Approach which must improve if the 29-year-old lefty hopes to crack the code at Augusta after missing the cut last year and best finish of T12 on debut in 2021. Recall MacIntyre's odds to win The Masters were near 125/1 just two years ago. Augusta scoring average: 73.70
Hole 15: Firethorn - Par 5, 550 yards (5.007 - Rank 14, 4.926 - Rank 14)
Jake Knapp (+7500) - Making his second Masters start after T55 in 2024, Knapp lacks proven course history, but his skills and form are solid to perform well at Augusta. The 31-year-old leads the Tour in Par 5 scoring (4.26), and his total driving and distance (319 yards) are a strong fit at Augusta (live) and both top 20 on Tour. He's also top 6 in Par 4 scoring this year, and Knapp's high ball flight has been noticed in practice at Augusta. He's also a good chipper, which has contributed to his strong results this year starting 2026 ranked 105th and now 42nd thanks to his No. 1 ranking in scoring average (69.03). Knapp has gained strokes putting in all seven starts this season while posting six top-11 finishes. He withdrew ahead of the Arnold Palmer Invitational (back), and missed the cut at The Players, but has otherwise been very solid while ranking No. 1 in SG: Total and No. 2 in Putting. In addition, Knapp ranks top 5 in this field in short putts inside 5 feet. Data Golf ranks Knapp top 20 in it's model, and there are plenty of other ways to wager and win than just betting on the outright winner. Perhaps he still surprises with a top 10 or 20 finish, noting last year three longshots in this range finished top 5 at The Masters including Sungjae Im (150/1 this yr, 3 top 10's), who's worth a mention and Justin Rose, who was runner-up. Augusta scoring average: 75.25
Hole 16: Redbud - Par 3, 170 yards (3.158 - Rank 11, 3.139 - Rank 8)
Nicolai Hojgaard (+8000) - The 25-year-old Great Dane has three top 6 finishes in 2026 including runner-up in his last start at the Houston Open when he excelled on Approach. He's also top 25 in Par 5 scoring and top 10 in Par 3 scoring this year while ranking top 15 in Approach, Ball Striking, Tee to Green, including top 2 in Approach and T2G in Houston. Hojgaard is top 5 in scoring average (69.7) this year, and he's gained strokes in all seven PGA Tour starts in the U.S. while ranking No. 6 overall in SG: Total, and he's gained an average of 1.60 strokes per round in 2026 to rank top 6 on Tour. Nicolai (317 yards) joins his brother Rasmus as top 10 on Tour in driving distance with a powerful draw, and his additional ability to shape shots with high Apex height adds to his strength and potential at Augusta National. While he missed the cut last year at Augusta, he finished T16 on debut in 2024 shooting an opening round 67 and had a piece of the lead on Saturday before faltering and shooting 76 on Sunday. Hojgaard was on the 2023 European Ryder Cup team after winning the DP World Tour Championship, and he's up to No. 36 in the world after starting the year ranked No. 77. Augusta scoring average: 73.33.
Hole 17: Nandina - Par 4, 450 yards (4.285 - Rank 4, 4.230 - Rank 4)
Jacob Bridgeman (+6500) - Let's add a first-timer making his Masters debut, and Bridgeman is available at 13/2 odds to be the top debutant. His odds to win have dropped considerably as his play has risen, top results followed and earned a Masters invitation while ranking No. 2 in scoring average this year (69.5). The 26-year-old won The Genesis Invitational on comp course Riviera this year for his first PGA Tour win to vault up the rankings and currently leads the FedExCup Standings. Bridgeman has finished top 20 in all eight of his starts this year on the PGA Tour, and is No. 1 in Par 4 scoring and top 20 in Par 5 scoring. He's above average driving distance (306 yards), but his Around the Green game has been a weakness (outside top 100), and that's a concern at Augusta. Still, Bridgeman ranks No. 1 in SG: Putting, No. 3 Total and top 25 in Approach this year. Could Bridgeman challenge like Aberg (2nd) did on debut two years ago? It would be quite a story for a rising star and kid who grew up just a few hours north of Augusta.
Hole 18: Holly - Par 4, 465 yards (4.366 - Rank 2, 4.243 - Rank 2)
Justin Rose (+3500) - The 45-year-old classy Englishman gets mention among the 18 holes and players following last year's runner-up finish in a playoff. Rose lead after Round 1 (65) and fired a 66 on Sunday to make up 5 shots on McIlroy late before giving way in a playoff loss, his second playoff defeat at The Masters (unfortunately to Sergio Garcia) and third runner-up finish overall. Rose won the Farmers Insurance Open this year and FedExCup Playoff event win last August. He's still competing at a high level and slightly above average driving distance. Rose is not going to win at more than half odds from last year. Augusta scoring average: 71.76

Note that many of the top golfers have not played a competitive tournament in at least two weeks. That includes Scheffler, McIlroy, Schaffele, Morikawa, Thomas, Hovland, Cam Young, Fitzpatrick, Cantlay, Rose, Reed, Cantlay and LIV golfers Rahm, DeChambeau and Hatton. Only 3 of the last 30 Masters winners have taken at least 2 weeks off before capturing the green jacket, while 16 players took one week off and 11 golfers played the week before The Masters. Some of those top players will have to overcome the layoff and odds. But the top 10 players in Total strokes gained at Augusta National over the last 10 years includes Scheffler, McIlroy, Rahm, Rose, Matsuyama, Aberg, Morikawa, Spieth, Reed and Dustin Johnson.
