Ridiculous And Wacky Super Bowl Props Add To Big Game Experience

FairwayJay takes a look at the thousands of Super Bowl props offered at leading online sportsbooks including the ridiculous and wacky offerings

The Big Game is approaching with kickoff for Super Bowl 54 on Feb. 2, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. ET. FOX Sports carries the TV coverage. Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida will be the site for the San Francisco 49ers versus Kansas City Chiefs as the Miami area hosts the Super Bowl for a record 11th time.

The Chiefs are a 1-point favorite at a majority of leading online sportsbooks, including BetOnline and SportsBetting.ag, where the total has pushed up to 54.5. Alternate line odds are added props with the total number of prop bets offered in excess of 1,000 at those two sportsbooks. The prop menu continues to grow as the interest in sports betting and wagering on the biggest game of the year brings out more wacky wagering offerings than ever.

"Prop bets have become Super Bowl party tradition and annual water-cooler banter. Sportsbooks are always trying to outdo each other regarding offerings, and this year we've taken the creativity aspect to another level," said Adam Burns, sportsbook manager at SportsBetting.ag. "We have more than 1,000 props on the board, and we're confident fans and bettors will be talking about these regularly until kickoff."

The list of props offered at SportsBetting.ag can be found under the football tab on the left side of their website along with these categories:

Cross-Sport Props
Coin Toss Props
National Anthem Props
Halftime Show Props
Broadcast Props
President Trump Props
Celebrity Props
Gambling Props
Postgame Props

As you evaluate the current odds on the props, here is some information on the activity of selected prop bets at SportsBetting.ag and its affiliate site BetOnline, which boast an extensive betting menu but is not available to residents in New Jersey, New York or Nevada.

Still, the advantages of playing at these leading online sportsbooks is more prop offerings, with many of the more creative, ridiculous or wacky props not always available at selected U.S. sportsbooks due to more strict gaming regulations.

Most Popular Game-related Props: (SportsBetting.ag and BetOnline)

National Anthem - Opened 1:56 now 2:01 - 83% on over
Mention Tom Brady - Opened -150 now -300 - 75% Yes
Joe Buck mentions Jack Buck - Opened No -150 now -300 - 90% No
Shortest TD in game - Under 1.5 - 88% under
Team that wins toss defers to second half - 94%
Dan Marino highlight they bet - NO - 92%
Mike Shanahan (49ers coach Kyle Shanahan's dad) being shown more than 1.5 times - 78% over

Flea flicker or Hail Mary attempted would equate to substantial losses on those props

Color of Liquid poured on Coach:
Yellow/Lime Green 38%, Red/Pink 27%, Orange 12%, Blue 9%, Clear/Water 9%, Purple 5% (A significant drop in odds on Purple at other sportsbooks - a potential leak)?

Unfortunately, due to too many rumors or online leaks, some of the more entertaining props have been taken off the board.

That includes the halftime show setlist and song odds for Shakira and Jennifer Lopez. Also removed were appearances and prop bets on celebrities and guests like Gloria Estefan. Also, the Puppy Bowl odds are off the board due to pre-taping of the game and leaks, while the always-popular Super Bowl commercials with some of the 36 prop bets surrounding the game between the game have been taken off the board.

Fortunately, we won't have to witness Antonio Brown's antics or tweets during the game, as his prop bets were removed after he was arrested for burglary and assault. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says the league wants to help Antonio Brown get on the right track. That's a longshot, and will take more money and resources. Perhaps Roger Goodell will appear on the Super Bowl TV broadcast more than 1.5 times. Hopefully not, but you can bet that prop too.

Close call between the 49ers and Chiefs. Should be highly entertaining with massive prop betting, including the wacky and ridiculous props. Especially at halftime as bettors scramble for the halftime show, more prop bets, halftime lines and in-game opportunities in the second half.

I've got both the Chiefs and 49ers in previous futures and prop bets, including 8-1 odds on San Francisco over Kansas City. The 49ers were part of the bet the Super Bowl winner now recommendation prior to those teams playing their first playoff game earlier this month.

The leading online sportsbooks including SportsBetting.ag with their added game props are hoping for a competitive contest and less scoring than expected with one-way action on the total Over 54.5 points. Will the game will be tied at halftime? Yes it will (+700).

You can bet on it.
