Nevada recorded its best football month ever in November, but still trails New Jersey overall in handle, according to official numbers released on Tuesday.

Gamblers wagered $609,376,849 million in November – down $50.3M from October – with Nevada sportsbooks, down 7.7% from October’s record of $659,899,331. The year-to-year comparison was slightly down 0.8% from November 2019 ($614,071,721). The handle figure included both retail betting and online action.

Mobile sports betting handle was 56.4% of total handle in November. Football (both NFL and college) provided a record number to Nevada in November with $501,783,154, a $60.66 million increase from October’s $441,123,139.

Top New Jersey sportsbooks continue to lead the way, setting a new U.S. record for sports handle with $931.6 million in November, bettering their own mark from October.

Nevada’s November mobile sports betting handle was $343,947,368, down 8.7% from October ($376,842,105).

The state’s sports betting revenue was $61,807,000, up 45.8% from October ($42,388,000) and up a whopping 99.3% from November 2019 ($31,012,000).

November’s total gaming win was $771,163,000 compared to $937,472,000 in November 2019.

In-Person Requirement Hampers Mobile Sports Betting
In Nevada, mobile sports betting handle has been slowed somewhat by the requirement that bettors actually go to a sportsbook to register for an account rather than being able to do the process online as in most states. In states such as New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Colorado, where remote registration gives bettors a more convenient option, mobile sports betting tops 90% of the market each month.

Other key Nevada numbers from the November report:

Apart from football, the remaining sports by handle were: Basketball ($34,576,271), baseball ($1,891,359), parlay cards ($10,170,894), hockey ($319,590), and “other” ($60,635,401).
