But before you fire in your NFL division future bets, understand what's happening in the market in the weeks ahead. Free agency begins March 18 with the legal tampering period staring March 16. That's when teams are allowed to speak with free agents and discuss terms. Patriots QB Tom Brady is expected to be the hottest topic as his two decade career with New England could come to an end. The free-agent quarterback market will be interesting to watch, as Cowboys QB Dak Prescott heads the list with Brady as quarterbacks that may find their way to the free agent market. Philip Rivers, Jameis Winston, Ryan Tannehill and Teddy Bridgewater join a deep class of free agent quarterbacks. But, March 10 at 4:00 p.m. ET is the deadline for clubs to designate Franchise or Transition Players. Winston and Tannehill could be slapped with the franchise tag, so watch these developments over the next two weeks.
You can try to anticipate some of the potential landing spots of key quarterbacks and other free agents, and bet accordingly on the NFL division winners. The online sportsbook odds will adjust with some of the quarterback changes, and that position will have the greatest impact on the market and odds. Much more so than any top rookie signing through the NFL Draft. For example, when Joe Burrow signs as the likely No. 1 overall pick of the Cincinnati Bengals, you're not going to see a sudden movement in the Bengals odds to win the division or make the playoffs. By the way, the Bengals have the longest odds to win any division in 2020 at 30-1 at William Hill. The Bengals 2020 season win total is 5.5 at Sportsbetting.ag.
Compare that below to the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, who are -450 to win the AFC West at SportsBetting.ag. Kansas City is the biggest division favorite on the board as the Chiefs shoot for their 5th straight division title. New Orleans is next at -400 while the Patriots are -300 at William Hill to win their 12th consecutive AFC East crown.
