Paul George of the Clippers scored 41 points to take over Game 5 of the NBA West finals. What can he do for an encore?

The effort Paul George put forth in Game 5 of the NBA Western Conference finals was almost indescribable. Faced with elimination and having to play on the Phoenix Suns' home floor, George was limited to eleven points in the first half, but then exploded for 30 in the second half, to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a 116-102 victory, which keeps their hopes alive.

Now BetOnline customers who have been following him and/or the Clippers throughout the playoffs will be asking what George can do for an encore.

NBA free pickAnd that will be the subject of one of the many props NBA bettors have to choose from. It's just another way to enhance the experience, and it does just that with a great deal of pizzazz.

Here is the over-under on points scored by George in Game 6:

Over 30.5 points -116
Under 30.5 points -111

As is often the case with prop bets, you have to adjust for inflation. Here there is not all that much adjustment from one game to the next. The O/U numbers have risen one point as they were 29.5 for Game 5. George shattered that, but we have seen all too many times where a player had an out-of-this-world effort and then followed it with something that was a little closer to earth.

We're not saying that George is going to come crashing down. But you know, there are other people who can contribute on the scoreboard, as the Clippers deal with the knee injury suffered by Kawhi Leonard. Reggie Jackson, for instance, is averaging almost 22 points, and he's done it while shooting 47%.

George is 42.7% for the series, so he may have to take a lot of shots to surpass the number. In the 18 games in which he has appeared in this playoff season, George has topped this posted number only five times. And twice he barely topped it with 31. This may sound surprising to some people, but George has exhibited some inconsistency, shooting 40% or lower on seven occasions.

It may be customary, and even cliche-ridden, for us to ask whether George has a whole lot left in the tank after his dominant performance. But we'll fade him here. UNDER

Between the two Phoenix guards, we wanted to focus on Chris Paul, because he is the guy who will generally have the ball in his hands much of the time. Here is his over-under for points scored:

Over 19.5 points -103
Under 19.5 points -125

You have to wonder whether Paul, who missed the first two games of this series while in COVID protocol, and has gone on to shoot just 31.7% from the field (two for 16 from three-point territory) might force some shots up, in an effort to get into the groove. But he's too selfless for that.

Besides, he is being hounded a healthy amount of time by the Clippers' ace who is now out of the hole, Patrick Beverley, who is so aggressive that he collided with Devin Booker and broke his nose in Game 1. I don't think Beverley cares how much he scores, and L.A. coach Ty Lue probably doesn't care either. I think his concentration is going to be on keeping Paul from those three-pointers and stunting as many penetration attempts as he can. We'll lay the price with an UNDER here.
