Trae Young's injury could actually have a ripple effect on the way other players perform in Game 4 between his Atlanta Hawks and the Milwaukee Bucks. We examine this.

Prop betting tips for the Buck at Hawks

One of the subplots surrounding Tuesday night's Game 4 of the NBA's Eastern Conference finals involves the foot injury that was suffered by Trae Young in the third quarter of Game 3. He's questionable for Game 4, although we're sure he'll play.

But maybe not at 100% fitness. And for those of us who are taking a close look at game props, his ailment can have effects beyond his own performance.

BetOnline has scores and scores of props you can wager on for Tuesday's Game 4 action. And here's what we've got to say about a few of them:

GIANNIS UNDER 51.5 POINTS+REBOUNDS+ASSISTS (-120)

We cashed in pretty well with this prop in six out of seven games in the previous series against Brooklyn. And Giannis has been below this number in two of the three games that have been played against Atlanta so far. And he's even doing better at the free throw line than he did against the Nets (60%).

NBA prop betting Bucks HawksYet there hasn't been enough of an adjustment to reflect that. Here is what's different in this particular game - with the monster game on the part of Khris Middleton (we'll discuss that below) in Game 3, he's probably viewed, at last at the moment, as an option this team can depend upon and help them win on the road. And with Trae Young being slowed down with a foot injury, Jrue Holiday might be able to take advantage of Young's inability to keep up on the defensive end.

While this might wind up being very good news for the Bucks, it's not especially good news for those who are counting on some inflated numbers on the part of Giannis.

KHRIS MIDDLETON UNDER 23.5 POINTS (-120)

We know that Khris Middleton is an NBA All-Star. We also know that he can score a ton of points on occasion, as he did in Game 3. Middleton had 38 points, and he really exploded in the fourth quarter, hitting four triples on the way to 20 points. He not only outscored the rest of his team, he outscored the entire Atlanta team during that period.

So yes, he'll see the ball plenty in Game 4. But that is no guarantee that he'll deliver. Middleton has laid some bricks in the playoffs (not that it's been habitual), and even when he has had a big game, it's been rare that he's followed that up with another big game. In nine of his 14 playoff appearances, he's been below this posted number.

Three-pointers? Maybe another story for BetOnline NBA playoff props bettors to look at. Middleton has had three or more triples in nine out of 14 games, so perhaps the "Over 2.5" at -130 is worth a play.

JRUE HOLIDAY OVER 18.5 POINTS (-120)

If you were Milwaukee coach Mike Budenholzer and you wanted to construct an offensive game plan, wouldn't you want to go after Trae Young, who isn't going to be difference-maker on the defensive end and is now playing with a bruised bone in his foot? I would. I'd force Young to work extra hard on the stop end to take energy away from his offensive game. And Young would have to deal with Holiday, who only had six points in Game 3 but has shown the capacity to score in bunches if he is called upon (33 points in Game 2).

TRAE YOUNG OVER 2.5 THREE-POINTERS (-143)

Young is a tricky proposition here, pardon the pun. We know he's hurt, and not likely 100%. We got a glimpse as to what he would play like with that bruised foot bothering him in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game. He made only one field goal, but what's more telling for our purposes is that he took three of his four shots from beyond the three-point line. It will cause more wear and tear for him to really go out there and attack the basket, so we'd expect that he'll throw up more shots from long range. That's our sense, anyway. If he can walk, he'll play. And with his 41.1% Usage rate in this series, he'll shoot plenty.
