Major Sports Leagues Plan Return as New Future Lines are Set

A look at the favorites to hoist championship trophies in the NBA, the NHL and Major League Baseball.

Rejoice, sports fans! Athletic competitions within the major sports leagues are coming to a television near you. The NBA, MLB and NHL are all going to be coming back in the next month.

So, without further ado, we go through the teams with the best odds in each sport.

5 Good Reasons to Bet the Games at Online Sportsbooks

NHL Favorites

The NHL team with the best odds to win the Stanley Cup had actually dropped seven of their final 10 games before the league stopped play. But you should not sleep on the Tampa Bay Lightning (+550). They have veterans and great leaders up and down their lineup.

Stanley Cup favoriteAt +600 is the Boston Bruins, the 2019 runner-up. They were showing that they were the best team in the East right before things stopped, and they should be ready to go immediately. Boston sports teams tend to find their way in the playoffs when it matters most.

The Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights are next, tied with +700 odds. Vegas is hoping to make a second trip in three years to the Stanley Cup final, while the Avalanche are hoping to come back and live their glory days again. Both of them are viable candidates to make noise in the West.

MLB Favorites

World Series favoriteEven with David Price not joining them for the season, there is an endless amount of talent on the Los Angeles Dodgers. They're the betting favorite with +300 odds to win the World Series. Mookie Betts is ready to join Cody Bellinger as one of the best tandems we have seen in a long time. They're ready to get a little revenge this season.

The Yankees come in next with +375 odds. They are loaded with talent, and if they can stay healthy in this short season, nobody will be able to stand in their way. They are well-managed and have very few lineup deficiencies. Look for them to try and avenge their loss to the Houston Astros in last year's American League Championship Series.

Speaking of those Astros, they are next with +1000 odds and are sure to be included in some of our MLB free picks. But few outside of Houston may want to bet on them. Their extreme cheating in the last few postseasons has rubbed folks the wrong way, rightfully so. But they still have a great team, so let's see.

NBA Favorites

The Los Angeles Lakers are the first team listed here, and they'll have everybody but Avery Bradley. To make up for it, they added JR Smith, and they also have Dion Waiters. With +240 odds, folks all over will be hoping LeBron James and Anthony Davis can help them cash in.

A Guide to Betting NBA Teasers

The Milwaukee Bucks are right behind them at +260. Holding the best record for the second year in a row, they have quite an impressive depth chart. They have the ultimate defensive starting unit, anchored by Giannis Antetokounmpo, and then veterans at every position to come in and get things done. Fear the Deer.

NBA Finals favorite LA LakersThere is a significant gap between Nos. 3 and 4. The LA Clippers are next with +320 odds, followed by the Boston Celtics at +1600. Los Angeles is a team led by two superstars that hopes to lift the Larry O'Brien Trophy at year's end.

Kawhi Leonard won a ring in Toronto last year, while Paul George has gone six years without winning a playoff series. Take the Clippers seriously, as they're a loaded team.

The odds to win the championship in each of the major sports leagues will ebb and flow during the course of these leagues returning for shortened seasons and instant playoffs. But there is value in looking at the favorites or maybe just beyond those top teams, except for the NBA, where it sure looks like a three-horse race.
