Half of Raiders’ home games scheduled for primetime in first season in Las Vegas

The Las Vegas Raiders will host the New Orleans Saints in the first game at their new home, scheduled for Monday Sept. 21 — week 2 of the upcoming NFL season. That won't be the last time Las Vegas is in the primetime spotlight, as the Raiders will also host two editions of Sunday Night Football — against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 25 and the Kansas City Chiefs on November 22.

Allegiant Stadium will receive Monday Night Football treatment for its grand opening.

They're also scheduled to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football on December 17 at Allegiant Stadium. That means half of the Raiders' inaugural home schedule is featured in primetime television slots.

The team unveiled its whole schedule Thursday afternoon shortly before a scheduled NFL Network show unveiling plans for the entire league.

This year’s schedule is, of course, highly subject to change.

The coronavirus pandemic hasn’t affected the league’s season calendar so far, and it’s planning to continue to move forward without interruption, though that may seem optimistic at this point. At the least, it seems unlikely that games will proceed with venues packed full of fans.

Allegiant Stadium is being constructed to hold 65,000 spectators and scheduled to be completed in July.
