College basketball betting analyst Ross Benjamin breaks down Friday night’s college basketball nationally televised game between Illinois-Chicago and Wright State. Don’t make a move on this game before first reading this insightful article.

Wright State (21-5) hosts Illinois-Chicago (12-14) on Friday night in a Horizon League contest. The opening tip is slated for 9:00 PM ET and this game can be viewed on ESPN2. According to current college basketball betting odds at Bookmaker, the Wright State Raiders are an 11.0-point favorite.

Looking Inside the Favorite's Numbers

Wright State has won 6 of its last 8 games but they also went a money draining 2-6 ATS while doing so. The Raiders are also a poor 1-3-2 ATS this season as a conference double-digit favorite. They won all 6 of those contests straight up. Strangely enough, those victories all came by 12 points or fewer. The point being, despite Wright State being prohibitive favorites in those contests they didn’t exactly win by any lopsided margins.

Recent UIC Flames Profitability

Illinois-Chicago has been on a pretty decent roll of late. The Flames are 6-2 SU&ATS during their previous 8 games. Furthermore, UIC has gone 4-1 straight up in their last 5 conference away games. It’s also worth noting, UIC is 4-0 ATS during its previous 4 as an underdog and they won 3 of those contests straight up. One of those straight up wins was 76-72 over Wright State in a game they closed as a 6.5-point home underdog.

Final Analysis and ATS Pick

Wright State is enjoying a very good season to this point. However, their overall record is a bit deceiving. They’ve greatly benefitted from an extremely soft non-conference schedule which included a pair of wins over teams not playing Division 1 basketball. The other 8 non-conference wins came against opponents who currently have a combined record of 66-106 (.384). Conversely, UIC is much better team than their present mark of 12-14 indicates. I like the underdog betting value in this matchup and my college basketball betting prediction echoes that sentiment.

Pick: Illinois-Chicago +11.0
