Persistent rain caused NASCAR officials to postpone the Daytona 500 until Monday at 4 PM ET, with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. holding the lead.

Preview of the Monday reboot of the Daytona 500

<Okay, they're going to try again at Daytona International Speedway, resuming the Daytona 500 at 4 PM ET on Monday after a postponement due to rain (FOX will televise).

Does that mean we get to see President Trump's motorcade make its way around the track once again?

Only 20 laps wound up being completed after a rain-delayed start, and with Ricky Stenhouse Jr., the pole-sitter, in the lead, the skies opened up again and let in a substantial downfall, leaving race officials with no choice but to pack it in for the day.

So it's some rest for the drivers, but likely none for the various mechanical crews, who will have to ensure that the last onslaught of rain, which came rather suddenly, did not do anything in the way of damage to the cars.

These are the top 20 drivers at the moment as they are posted in the Daytona 500 betting odds at BetAnySports:

Joey Logano       +655
Kyle Busch         +750
Denny Hamlin    +900
Brad Keselowski +1200
Chase Elliott       +1200
Kevin Harvick     +1200
Aric Almirola      +1300
Ryan Blaney       +1400
Martin Truex Jr  +1400
Ricky Stenhouse Jr +1400
Kurt Busch         +1600
William Byron    +1600
Erik Jones          +1600
Clint Bowyer      +1800
Alex Bowman     +2000
Jimmie Johnson +2000
Ryan Newman    +2000
Kyle Larson        +2200
Matt DiBenedetto +2500
Austin Dillon      +3300

As you can see, Stenhouse Jr. (who is one of our choices) is priced at +1400. Joey Logano, who was second at the time of the stoppage, is the favorite at +655.

Rounding out the top five, with their current prices, are: Aric Almirola (+1300), Ryan Newman (+2000) and Kevin Harvick (+1200). Newman won this race in 2008.

There are two drivers in this field who have won the "Great American Race" twice. One of those is the defending champion, Denny Hamlin, who's won two of the last four. The other is Jimmie Johnson, who is doing a "farewell lap" of sorts, as he's retiring after this season.

Hamlin's car failed a pre-race inspection, so he had to start at the back of the pack, but he gets respect from the folks at BetAnySports, priced at +900. Johnson's team has tweaked his equipment this season, which he hopes will make a difference, but he has now gone 94 races in a row without a win.

Austin Dillon, who won this race a couple of years ago, is priced at +3300. His brother Ty Dillon, who's also competing, is at +7000.

Matt DiBenedetto of the Wood Brothers team, who led the race for 49 laps last year, is currently in 13th place and is at +2500.

On nine different occasions, the pole-sitter has won the Daytona 500, which is good news for Stenhouse. And the #2 spot has produced seven victors. That belonged to Alex Bowman, who is at +2000.

This race is no longer being run with restrictor plates, which was something that a number of drivers excelled at, including 2010 champion Jamie McMurray, who has replaced Darrell Waltrip in the booth at Fox, and Darrell's brother, Michael Waltrip, who won four Monster Cup Series (what it's called now) races, two of them in the Daytona 500 (2001 and 2003).

Now the race is run with the new aero packages. So far there have been three super-speedway races run with it, and the winners of those races were Chase Elliott (+1200), Ryan Blaney (+1400) and Justin Haley (+10000), although Logano had the best overall rating across those events.

Rookie John Hunter Nemechek of Front Row Motorsports is priced at +8000. His dad Joe, who has made more Cup Series starts than anyone around, raced a "Trump/Pence 2020" car in the Xfinity Series on Saturday.

One interesting proposition involves Chris Buescher, who replaced Stenhouse this year at Roush Fenway Racing, which has had an unusual amount of success on super-speedways. Buescher is already pretty good in that regard, having finished fifth in both the Daytona 500 and the summer Daytona race just two years ago. At +5000, he may be a juicy upset possibility.

And upsets most certainly happen here. You'd have to call Michael Waltrip's two Daytona wins a surprise, and some people may remember Derrike Cope, who won the Daytona 500 in 1990 when Dale Earnhardt Sr. had a mishap on the final lap, and then went on to win only one other race o NASCAR's top level. Trevor Bayne has had one win in 187 Cup Series starts, and it was the 2011 Daytona 500, one day after he turned 20.
