Biggest College Football Games Top 25 Week 9

The college football 2025 Week 9 Top 25 schedule includes three Top 25 matchups, and we chip-in picks, opinions and information you can bet on for the most watched and wagered games each week at the leading online sportsbooks

Those games follow a chaotic Week 8 that saw nine AP Top 25 teams fall, including four from the top 10. The Big Ten still leads the way on top with No. 1 Ohio State (7-0) also the only FBS team that has yet to lose against the spread while outscoring opponents 255-41 this season. Indiana (7-0) is up to a program-best No. 2 in the AP Poll while outscoring opponents 309-81 including beating No. 6 Oregon (6-1) on the road in Week 7.

SEC free picksThe SEC fills No. 3-4-5 in the AP Poll with Texas A&M (7-0) the only unbeaten SEC team and Alabama (6-1) beating Tennessee for it's fourth straight win over a ranked opponent. There was another WTF moment and game-changing play that impacted our picks and bets with the 99-yard INT return TD by the 'Tide to end the first half. Alabama has now won 16 straight home game - tief for the longest in FBS. Georgia (6-1) rounds out the top 5 after outlasting Ole Miss 43-35 in another close contest and tight spread that was won or lost based on the number you bet.

All three matchups that include Top 25 teams this week are in the SEC, and Vanderbilt (6-1) has a second-straight Top 25 opponent after beating LSU and moving into the Top 10. The 'Dores join Georgia Tech (7-0) from the ACC as surprising top 10 entries with the Yellow Jackets the only unbeaten team in the Atlantic Coast Conference and BYU (7-0) leading the Big 12 as that conferences only undefeated team after taking out rival Utah 24-21 in the Holy War.

Top 25 matchups this weekend include:

- No. 8 Ole Miss vs. No. 13 Oklahoma
- No. 10 Vanderbilt vs. No. 15 Missouri
- No. 3 Texas A&M vs. No. 20 LSU

Undefeated Teams And Conference Contenders

Just seven teams remain undefeated after UNLV from the Mountain West lost at Boise State.

Navy, Georgia Tech, BYU, Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M.

Navy leads the tight and most competitve American Athletic Conference (AAC) and the Middies are 4-0 in AAC play. South Florida and Tulane are 3-0 and four teams 6-1 overall. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) has been turned upside down with huge preseason favorite Clemson now 3-4 after opening the season in the top 5 of the AP Top 25 Poll. Georgia Tech is unbeaten and 4-0 in ACC play with Virginia 3-0 and 6-1 overall and SMU also 3-0 and 5-2 overall in the ACC race after crushing Clemson 35-24. Louisville (5-1/2-1) is still in the race after taking down Miami 24-21 with the Hurricanes (5-1/1-1) having tough ACC road games remaining at SMU and Pittsburgh (5-2/3-1).

Brigham Young (BYU) leads the Big 12 at 4-0 with Cincinnati (6-1/4-0), Houston (6-1/3-1), Arizona State (5-2/3-1) and Texas Tech (6-1/3-1) in the conference chase after ASU picked up a huge win over Texas Tech 26-22 as a 7.5 point home 'Dog in Tempe. Ohio State (7-0/4-0) and Indiana (7-0/4-0) are riding high and the Buckeyes are on a bye this week before tackling most disappointing Penn State (3-4/0-4) on Nov. 1 with the Nittany Lions a preseason No. 2 in the AP Top 25 Poll. Oregon (6-1/3-1) is still in the mix to return to the Big Ten Championship Game. Michigan, Iowa, USC, Minnesota and Northwestern are all 5-2 overall and 3-1 in Big Ten play with Minnesota at Iowa a key conference game this Saturday. And UCLA (3-4/3-1) is on a most improbable 3-game winning streak after firing their completely clueless head coach and responding under new coaches and coordinators.

College Football's 2025 Top Defensive Teams

The SEC is loaded as expected with Texas A&M (7-0/4-0) on top this week and Alabama (6-1/4-0) the other unbeaten team in conference play after winning four straight games over Top 25 opponents. Georgia (6-1/4-1), Ole Miss (6-1/3-1), Oklahoma (6-1/2-1), Missouri (6-1/2-1), Vanderbilt (6-1/2-1) and Texas (5-2/2-1) are all pushing for a CFB Playoff spot and SEC title game appearance. Tennessee (5-2/2-2) and LSU (5-2/2-2) will factor into the SEC leaders results with games remaining vs. A&M, and on the road at Alabama and Oklahoma.

NCAA Football Week 9 Top 25 Picks

Check back by Friday each week as we add more Picks and Opinions with select analysis, stats and any upgrades to support information you can bet on.

Ole Miss at Oklahoma - The Sooners are a defensive dominator leading the country in yards per game (223) and yards per play (3.2) defense and No. 2 in scoring defense (10.5) while holding all seven opponents to season-low yardage this season. Oklahoma's elite run defense is allowing just 74 rushing yards per game and a nation-low 2.3 yards per rush. Ole Miss Oklahoma free pickQuarterback John Mateer is back to better health following surgery on his broken hand. The Mississippi defense has been torched by Georgia and Arkansas for more than 500 yards each while allowing 43 and 35 points. The Rebels offense has been balanced and efficient while posting 493 yards per game (top 5 in country) and 37.4 points per game. Coach Kiffin prefers to run the ball more than they throw it but managed just 88 rushing yards on 24 attempts last week against Georgia. The Sooners defense is the best and the Rebels are deflated and their defense gassed after allowing Georgia 34 first downs, 500 yards offense including 221 rushing on 49 attempts and nearly 38 minutes time of possession. Pick: Oklahoma

Missouri at Vanderbilt - A surprising matchup for two SEC contenders and both Missouri and Vanderbilt feature efficienct balanced offenses. Both have strong defenses as well and the Tigers top defense also held Alabama to 325 yards at 4.5 yards per play in their only loss of the season, 27-24 despite out-playing the Crimson Tide. Mizzou Vandy free pickThe Tigers still face top teams Texas A&M and Oklahoma, and need a road win this week in Nashville to keep pace. Missouri was averaging over 500 yards and 41.7 points per game while rating at 0.7 yards per play better than average (6.8 yppl against teams that would allow 6.1 yppl to an average team) into last week's game at Auburn. The Tigers of Missouri escaped with a 23-17 OT win overcoming 2 interceptions by their quarterback and a negative turnover margin. Vanderbilt also has a solid defensive profile, and still has games left at Texas and Tennessee among the league leaders. Electric QB Diego Pavia continues to make plays for the more balanced offense of the 'Dores who now average 215 yards rushing and 239 ypg passing. But Missouri is the top rushing team in the four Power conferences averaging 249 rushing ypg and balanced attack with 215 passing yards per game. Opinion: Missouri

Texas A&M at LSU - The A&M defense was gashed far more than expected by a very balanced Arkansas offense that posted more than 525 yards offense in last week's 45-42 Aggies road win. LSU is desperate and home in a raucous night game in Baton Rouge. But the Tigers lost at Ole Miss 24-19 in a flattering score to the loser while getting out-gained 480-254. LSU Texas AM pickThen LSU lost last week at Vanderbilt 31-24 with the Tigers defense allowing 400 yards offense including 239 rushing with the Commodores offense able to control the ball, clock and chains for more than 36 minutes. Texas A&M is up to 197 rushing yards per game to compliment its 267 passing yards per game. The Aggies are a slight road favorite against LSU, who is 19-1 straight up in home night games under coach Brian Kelly. Aggies duel-threat bro QB Marcel Reed has silenced more critics with better poise in the pocket and deep ball accuracy while ranking 3rd in QB Rating and yards per pass among SEC quarterbacks this season. Still, there will be some mistakes on the road in that environment and I'm not willing to risk it on Reed. Texas A&M has not won in Death Valley since 1994. Preseason Heisman contender QB Garrett Nussmeier and LSU's top defense need a statement win and a victory over A&M would qualify. Lean: LSU.

More select game analysis, picks and opinions as available by Saturday.

Baylor at Cincinnati - The Bearcats (6-1) have been a pleasant surprise in the Big 12, and tied with BYU on top at 4-0. Baylor (4-3) would have been favored in this contest at the start of the season, and at 2-2 in conference, the Bears are also 0-4 ATS after suffering a close 42-36 loss at TCU last week despite outgaining the Frogs. A minus (-7) turnover differential has hurt Baylor, but they have played the stronger schedule and can win a high-scoring shootout with more than 450 yards projected for the Bears. Cincinnati's defense has given up season-high yardage to three opponents this season, and the Bearcats are also just 4-13 ATS versus .500 or greater conference opponents. Pick: Baylor

Western Michigan at Miami, Ohio - Big game in the MAC with both teams 3-0 in conference and tied on top with Buffalo. Hidden special teams edge for the Redhawks, who have experienced (inaccurate) duel QB, better run game and defense projected in this matchup. Opinion: Miami, O
