Houston (19-1) dominated the conference with their only loss at home in overtime to No. 2 seed Texas Tech (15-5). The Red Raiders have never won the Big 12 tournament. Before they get a potential shot at Houston, TT will have to tackle some other conference teams who were all ranked top-10 at some point this season, No. 3 seed Arizona (14-6), No. 5 seed Iowa State (13-7) and No. 6 seed Kansas (11-9), who started the season ranked No. 1. And No. 4 seed BYU (14-6) joins the other five teams as locks to make the NCAA Tournament, according to ESPN's Bracketology. All Big 12 conference games on ESPN or ESPN2.
Despite Houston's dominance, this is still a tougher conference to predict a winner with greater depth. Houston is one of just four teams in the country that are top-20 in both KenPom's offensive and defensive efficiency ratings - a metic that has produced 21 of the last 22 NCAA Tournament winners. Arizona was there recently but fell back defensively. Texas Tech is now closer, along with Iowa State with those adjusted offensive and defensive efficiency numbers.
