Betting 2020 NFL Specials

A look at some futures and fun NFL bets for the upcoming 2020 season.

The Coronavirus will not put a damper on the 2020 NFL season, which gets underway on Sept. 10 when Houston travels to defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City.

The NFL season opens up a wealth of betting opportunities for sports bettors of all levels. In addition to betting on the moneyline, spread, and totals; there are a number of exciting NFL special bets in 2020.

Most Wins
It's got to be the Chiefs right? QB Patrick Mahomes and one of the NFL's most lethal offenses reunites in 2020. The Chiefs are listed at +375 to record the most wins in this year’s regular season.

It's also the same odds as last year's regular season wins leader Baltimore. There's a good reason why too. The Ravens have the NFL's easiest strength of schedule.

NFC favorites San Francisco (+700) and New Orleans (+800) are solid choices and the one sleeper bet that could pay off is Dallas. The Cowboys have the third-easiest strength of schedule and return the league’s second-leading passer in Dak Prescott.

Most Losses
On the other end of the spectrum of NFL futures betting, it's Jacksonville that's favored to lose the most regular season games. The Jags are given odds of +250 to be the NFL's biggest loser in 2020.

Washington is listed at +550 and both Carolina and Cincinnati are at +700. Look for one of the New York teams - the Jets (+1000) or the Giants (+1400) - to be in the mix.

Here's a look at some of the action:

Defensive Player of the Year

Prior to Stephon Gilmore's win last year, a defensive lineman had won the DPOY award in five straight seasons. J.J. Watt (+1200) and Aaron Donald, this year’s favorite at +700, won two each. Khalil Mack (+1000) won the other.

Interestingly enough, two sets of brothers are among the candidates to win this year’s DPOY. Watt’s younger brother T.J., a linebacker for Pittsburgh, is given the same odds (+1200) as his brother.

Nick Bosa (+800) is one of the top favorites for the award. His brother Joey is listed at +2000. Gilmore is given +1800 odds to repeat.

Offensive Player of the Year

Mahomes or Jackson? The Chiefs quarterback is the overall favorite at +450 at the best sportsbooks to bet on football. Jackson, the reigning NFL MVP, is listed at +850.

Watch out for a running back to win the award in 2020. The Giants’ Saquon Barkley (+1200) and Carolina’s Christian McCaffrey (+1400) are the type of running back that can win the OPOY. Both are potential 1,000-yard rushers and both catch a ton of passes.

McCaffrey went for over 1,000 yards rushing and receiving last year.

Player Specials
Individual player specials are another great place for bettors to find value. Take Mahomes, for example. The odds on the Chiefs quarterback going under 36.5 touchdown passes is listed at +125. Mahomes threw 26 last year after throwing 50 the year before.

Jackson’s top target in Baltimore is TE Mark Andrews. Last year, Andrews caught 10 touchdowns on 64 receptions.

This year, Andrews catching over 9.5 touchdown passes is listed at +145. Expect Andrews to continue to be Jackson’s top target and at 6-foot-5, he’s a great red zone threat.
