College Basketball Conference Tournament Betting Preview - Big East and Atlantic 10

The countdown to the NCAA Tournament is less than one week away. The top teams are preparing for March Madness, and the small conference tournaments are in full swing this week as the most intense and exciting time of the college basketball season has arrived. Conference tournaments and the NCAA Tournament produce the most live bet games of the season with wall to wall media coverage and memorable moments.

NCAA basketball A-10 Big East tournament picksThe week before the NCAA Tournament and Selection Sunday on March 12, big conference basketball tournaments tipoff. We'll shoot for covering 8-9 conference tournaments in the days ahead with odds, selective stats and information you can bet on to assist you when wagering at your online sportsbooks. And know that despite all the regulated sportsbooks across the U.S. in nearly 30 states, there are still benefits to wagering offshore

Check out my NCAA basketball conference tournament coverage for the ACC, SEC and American Conferences, along with the Pac-12 and Mountain West tipping off in Las Vegas this week. I'll be attending some of those games. Plenty of fantastic finishes and dreams realized during conference tournament play and the NCAA Tournament.

Be sure to join the BetOnline huge March Madness contest ahead of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

In Joe Lunardi's Bracketology for ESPN, these conferences will have multiple bids to the 2023 NCAA Tournament. We'll be covering these conferences in the days ahead of major conference tournament action.

Big Ten (10)
SEC (8)
Big 12 (7)
ACC (5)
Big East (5)
Pac 12 (3)
Mountain West (3)
West Coast (2)
American (2)

The West Coast conference tipped off Thursday in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena, and I provided conference tournament odds for most the smaller conference tournaments this week in my college basketball tournament coverage for Forbes. Gonzaga and St. Mary's out of the West Coast Conference will both be playing in the NCAA Tournament, and are the only two teams this week in the smaller college basketball conferences to have a team ranked in the AP Top 25.

There are some key conference games to end the regular season this weekend, including Dayton at St. Louis.

Big East Tournament Odds to Win

- Marquette, UCONN, Creighton (+300)
- Xavier (+550)
- Villanova (+900)
- Providence (+1600)
- St. John's (+5000)
- Butler, Georgetown, DePaul (+50000)

Top team stats (KenPom ranking Big East/National)

Adjusted Offense
Marquette (1/4), Xavier (2/7), Connecticut (3/10), Providence (4/18), Creighton (5/27), Villanova (6/41)

Adjusted Defense
Creighton (1/10, Connecticut (2/12), Seton Hall (3/21), Butler (4/55), Marquette (5/68), St. John's (6/71), Xavier (7/83), Villanova (8/91)

Marquette is the top seed followed by Xavier. Those two teams are averaging 80 and 82 points per game, respectively, to lead the Big East. The Golden Eagles and Musketeers also lead the conference in field goal percentage, hitting between 49.5% and 50% of their shots from the floor. The two teams split a pair of very close games during the regular season, and both teams went 3-1 vs Providence and Creighton.

With Marquette leading the league in steals and assist-to-turnover ratio, they are a slight favorite in a tight race at the top for the conference championship. That said, we prefer Xavier's tempo and top-10 adjusted efficiency on offense, field goal shooting and 3-pointers.

Pick to Win: Xavier or Marquette
