2020 NFL Week 2 Best Bets

A look at Week 2 of the NFL, with some top bets for the week.

Three picks for Week 2 NFL betting

The NFL's Week 1 was good to the dogs. Three underdogs of five or more points pulled off opening week victories - Arizona, Jacksonville, and Washington. To say that was unexpected . . . well it was somewhat unexpected.

Are there any dogs out there in Week 2?

Tampa Bay dropped its opener as Tom Brady threw two interceptions in a loss to New Orleans. The Bucs are nine-point favorites at home against Carolina at most online sportsbooks. Is that one of Week 2’s best bets?

Bengals at Browns (UNDER 44)

Oh, the Browns. The hype was there once again for Cleveland in advance of the 2020 season. Baker Mayfield this and Nick Chubb that. The defense and Myles Garrett . . . and on and on.

Cleveland Browns TNF pickSure, Cleveland ran into Baltimore in Week 1, but they are still the Browns.

Chubb carried the ball 10 times in Week 1 and will likely carry it more on Thursday night. Remember, the Cleveland offense only averaged 20.9 points a game last season and they looked awful last week.

The Bengals are going to struggle as they did in NFL Week 1 with a rookie at quarterback - Joe Burrow. Now, the No. 1 overall pick did almost lead the Bengals to a come-from-behind victory. Cincy averaged just 3.8 yards per rush in their loss to the Chargers.

This Thursday’s battle features two inept offenses, which is why we lean on the Under all the way.

49ers (-6.5) at Jets

The Under might be a good play in Sunday’s game in New York where the Jets host the 49ers. San Francisco has one of the league's best defenses, though it didn't show last week in their upset loss to Arizona.

49ers Jets free pickThe Jets are simply bad. The 27-17 loss to Buffalo only looks close because the Jets scored a late touchdown that didn’t matter. The Jets anemic offense coupled with the Niners defense and emphasis on the ground game will lead some to play the Under.

Traveling to the east coast is never easy for west coast teams, but the Niners are just plain better than the Jets. If you’re following the betting scene, it’s not a difficult one to see. You can bet 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan will have his team ready to go in NFL Week 2. Plus, the Jets have the NFL’s worst record ATS - 12-20-1 - since 2018.

The 49ers will win and cover.

Chiefs (-6.5) at Chargers

The Chiefs in a division game? Money.

Chiefs Chargers betting tipsHead coach Andy Reid is virtually unbeatable when playing the rest of the AFC West. Yes, the game is on the road, but that is what separates the Chiefs and Reid from the rest of the league.

Reid's record outside of Arrowhead Stadium is a healthy 66-44-3 ATS. His record against Anthony Lynn of the Chargers? 4-1-1 ATS.

The Chargers barely beat a Bengals team that went 2-14 last year. The offense is sketchy with journeyman quarterback Tyrod Taylor under center. The team’s feature back - Austin Ekeler - ran for fewer than 20 yards and was targeted once in the passing game.

Kansas City moves to 2-0 and covers the 6.5-point spread in this one.
