Tonight the Madness comes to an end and with a tournament filled with huge upsets and surprising runs, tonight NCAA Men's Basketball Championship is really anybody's game. Yet in Las Vegas and sportsbooks worldwide the #2 seeded Villanova Wildcats are listed as 2.5 point underdogs to the North Carolina Tar Heels. The game tips off at about 9:19 tonight and depending on who you want to root for you can view the game on any of three cable TV channels.
The Wildcats are on a serious roll in the tournament and are coming off a demolition of Buddy Hield and Oklahoma on Saturday night. Villanova is one of the few teams in the country that has the defense to slow down the Tar Heels. Nova yields just 63 points-per-game and only gave up 59 points to then #1 Kansas and followed up with a 51 point defensive effort against the Sooners. The game total posted at BetDSI.eu opened at 149.5 despite the fact that North Carolina averages 83 ppg.
Both teams have balanced attacks with several players that can score. North Carolina displayed their balanced scoring attack Saturday night with Brice Johnson and Justin Jackson adding 16 points each to go with 15 from Kennedy Meeks and Marcus Paige's 13. Nova showed the same balance as six players scored in double digits with Josh Hart leading the way with 23 points.
The line for this game opened with North Carolina as a 2-point favorite and quickly edged upward. Here are the current NCAA Championship betting odds posted at Elite-rated BetDSI.eu.
Villanova Wildcats (+2.5) -110

Most recently, they beat the Wildcats in the 2009 Final Four to end that squad's magic run. In addition, North Carolina is 16-5-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 22 neutral site games.
Still it's hard to ignore what Villanova have done during March Madness this year. They have scored more than 85 points in four of its five tournament games and as a team, the Wildcats shot an incredible 71.4% from the field and won by the biggest margin ever in a Final Four game, just two days ago. Finally, the average margin of victory for Villanova in this tournament is 24.0 points.
