The Chicago Cubs are going to have to beat Corey Kluber and the Cleveland Indians if they want to draw even in the 2016 World Series.

The Chicago Cubs have their backs up against the wall. Are we trying to sound overly dramatic? Probably not, because they sent their best pitcher out to the mound on Friday night, and they didn't get what they wanted from him, for at least as long as it lasted. Now they have to go against the Cleveland Indians' best pitcher, by far, and if they can't get to him somehow, they are going to find themselves down 3-1 in the World Series.

This game is set for 8:05 PM ET at Wrigley Field, and while it is being televised live on Fox, people who are signed up for an account with BetAnySports can watch the proceedings and place wagers on them as they are happening, using the magic that is Live Betting Ultra.

Kyle Hendricks went 4-1/3 innings and gave up six hits, walking two more batters, but got out of it without a run being scored, as the Indians didn't get any timely hitting. Cleveland got its only run in the seventh inning on a single by Coco Crisp. And Josh Tomlin left after 4-2/3 scoreless innings but had given up only two hits. Obviously both managers used their bullpen liberally, having had a travel day to rest up. Very rarely will you see a game with only one run scored, where neither starter lasted five innings and ten pitchers altogether were used.

Now the Cubs are sending John Lackey to the mound, and his opponent is Corey Kluber, who has a 0.74 ERA during the post-season. Lackey is most definitely a veteran of post-season action, with 22 starts to his credit. He is no stranger to the big stage, having pitched in the seventh game of the World Series when he was a rookie in 2002. Kluber went six innings in Game 1 of this series in Cleveland, striking out nine and allowing four hits in a 6-0 victory. The Cubs have now been shut out in four games out of their last eight.

In the World Series odds that have been established on this game by the folks at BetAnySports, the Cubs are a favorite:

Chicago Cubs (Lackey - R) -133
Cleveland Indians (Kluber - R) +123

Over 6.5 Runs -115
Under 6.5 Runs -105

When you take a look at all this, Cleveland has yielded five runs in the last four games. If you want to look at it another way, they haven't allowed ANY runs at all in three of their last four. That is not only a reflection on the kind of work Kluber has done, but also the Cleveland bullpen, which by all accounts has been handled rather well by Terry Francona.

He hasn't exactly handed the running game too well, as he has sent his runners just twice in the first three games. Francisco Lindor has made it once, and was thrown out the other time. He was also picked off first base by Wilson Contreras. So maybe the Cubs and Joe Maddon deserve a little credit there as well.

BetAnySports patrons also know that the Cubs have just not been hitting the ball. Let's take Kyle Schwarber and Ben Zobrist out of the mix for a minute. Everybody else has hit .143 in these first three games. Wow.

That is no way to end a 108-year drought without a world championship. And they have the worst guy possible to go against here, unless Kluber is finally brought down to earth. Andrew Miller threw 17 pitches on Friday night, so conceivably he could go in there again. Cody Allen had 18 pitches. Danny Salazar wasn't used at all. Neither was rookie Ryan Merritt. Or Zach McAllister. So they have some arms ready to go.
