Tom Cotton, a Republican Senator from the US state of Arkansas, has introduced a new bill that seeks to ban online gaming activities across the country.

Bill S.3376 seeks to "ensure the integrity of laws enacted to prevent the use of financial instruments for funding or operating online casinos are not undermined by legal opinions not carrying the force of law issued by federal government lawyers".

The proposed legislation is now with the Senate Committee on the Judiciary and could be considered for a hearing in the near future.

Cotton's bill is the latest in a line of proposals to outlaw online gaming in the US.

Earlier this year, a federal lawmaker from Pennsylvania failed in an effort to get anti-online poker language into a spending bill, while Senator Lindsey Graham, who is listed as a co-sponsor for Cotton's bill, pushed a standalone bill in the past, but to no avail.
