20407 Juventus vs. 20408 Real Madrid

J-Stadium, Turin, Italy

4-3-2018 - 2:45 pm ET

The opening day features a rematch of the 2016-2017 Champions League final. Real Madrid make the trip to Turin with the goal of capturing their 3rd straight UEFA League title, while Juventus await their Spanish rivals with revenge in mind, less than a year after their frustrating 3-1 loss in Cardiff, the Old Lady have their own intentions of advancing out of this Quarter Finals event.

Real Madrid seem to have turned the corner in this trying season. After faltering to find their rhythm to start the campaign, the Whites have come together at the best possible time in the calendar, giving hope of adding yet another Champions League title to their ever growing trophy case.

The Madridistas went into the Round of 16 as unthinkable Under-Dogs, but their pure quality and overall class shined through against a posturing PSG side, now with another large club to overcome in their path to the Ukraine in May, we should see the best of what the team has to offer over this two-legged event.

Zinedine Zidane has emerged out of a world wind of scrutiny, the French man has pushed all the right buttons of late, correcting his starting eleven, and finding the correct substitution pattern after an off-season that saw many of his regulars leave the Santiago Bernabéu.

Zidane has been versatile from match to match in his formations, using a 4-4-2- 4-2-3-1 alignment with much success, the Madridistas have shown their true determination to succeed over the last couple of months, reeling of a record of 10-0-1 and averaging 3.3 Goals a match during this fantastic run of play.

Cristiano Ronaldo will once again garner much of the attention from the Juventus defenders, the Portuguese trigger man has historically come alive during Champions League fixtures.

Ronaldo has already lived up to his reputation in this years version, posting 12 Goals in just 8 appearances, we should see another inspired effort from the Los Blancos tally's man.

The Whites have also solidified their Midfield rotation, with the emergence of Isco into the starting eleven, the Spanish International has taken advantage of the valuable minutes he has been presented with.

Isco is unquestionably the most talented player on the squad with ball at his feet, he consistantly creates mismatches with his exquisite dribbling and passing skills, expect the Spaniard to play a pivotal role in Zidanes plan of attack in Italy.

Real Madrid have been dynamic in tournament play away from the Santiago Bernabéu, scoring an average of 3 Goals per match, during their last 4 Champions League road games.

The Whites defense has been tested during their travels, conceding and average of 1.3 Goals per match, during their last 4 Champions League road games.

Juventus anxiously await the arrival of Los Blancos to the J-Stadium, with almost a full year to reflect on their second half collapse in Wales, the Zebras will certainly come out more motivated to provide a better showing in front of their loyal supporters.

Massimiliano Allegri continues to get the best out his squad from year to year, having lead his team past a ambitious Tottenham side during the Round of 16,  Allegri has now had several weeks to prepare his tactics for this mouth watering rematch with Real Madrid.

Allegri has been more calculated with his formation, preferring a 4-3-2-1 approach, the Italian head man is able to field a more athletic starting eleven than in years past.

Juve learned a hard lesson last May, their inability to keep pace with the dynamic Madridistas play-makers left a mark, prompting the personal department to go to work, bringing in a influx of youth, and overall quality through-out the team.

Gonzalo Higuaín will get the call as the designated number 9 in the Juve attack. The Argentine danger man has often been criticized for his lack goals during the largest events.

Regardless Higuaín is a world class finisher, collecting 5 Goals in 7 Champions League appearances, Juve know he can produce a moment of genius at anytime he steps onto the pitch.

Paulo Dybala should certainly make his presence known on Tuesday night, the Attacking Midfielder has continued to grow into his role with the Old Lady.

Dybala is a true weapon in the attack, with the ability to finish both inside and most notably outside the box, he creates opportunities to shoot on goal with his crisp movements, and brilliant runs while on Juves side of the pitch, even with just 1 Goal in 7 appearances, the young Argentine can make a huge difference over the course of 90 minutes.

Juventus have been consistent in finding the back of the net during UEFA competitions, scoring an average of 1.5 Goals per match, during their last 4 Champions League games.

The Juve defense is what the Italians are truly know for, with GK - Gianluigi Buffon still positioned between the sticks, the Old Lady have conceded 0.75 Goals per match, during their last 4 Champions League home games.

Prediction:

Most would believe the first leg would be a cagey affair, with Real Madrid quite content to leave Italy with a Nil-Nil, or 1-1 type of result.

But these two clubs have often seen large score-lines when paired together in Italy, having seen the Total exceed 2.5 Goals, during the last 5 matches played in Turin between these two storied clubs.

Real Madrid are not known for being a passive side, who sit back and just absorb pressure, while letting their opponents take the match to them.

Los Blancos have backed that up over the past 21 Champions League outings, scoring a minimum of 2 Goals in 17 of those fixtures.

Juventus have also seen their production rise, scoring at least 2 Goals over the last 3 European matches, while going undefeated at the J-Stadium in their last 7 Champions League games.

Juventus are well equipped to handle the impending pressure that is sure to come, with no real weaknesses within their tactical approach, this will be a great measuring stick of how far they have come since the last meeting.

Both clubs are extremely talented down the wings, while looking to employ a heavy amount of through balls, and long balls over the top of opposing defenses.

Each side also possess world class Forwards, who can place the ball in the back of the net at an astounding rate, do not be surprised to see Ronaldo and Higuaín on the score-line at the end of this 90 minute span.

With the amount of talent, and philosophies of play between these two managers, we should see at least 1 Goal being posted per team, during Tuesdays high profile affair.
